Default Stalled Auto = low numbers

how low do lightly modded stalled cars usually dyno?? i pulled 274rwhp/294tq with my mods, but according to my 1/8th time, i should be well into the 12s given i get a decent 60ft and get through the gears without bangin the rev limiter...

I've seen some dyno quite a bit higher than that, but then again yours is a '98 and they typically dyno lower than the later years. A4's are bitches on the dyno. You should be well into the 12's no problem. I wouldn't worry about your numbers.....go to the track and tell us what you run.

Dyno is just a tool for tuning. The track is the proof that your mods are actually worth the money...

so true, i always wonder where the power actually goes on stalled cars though, i mean it can put it down on the track, but not on the dyno? i understand that that is the case, its just weird and i wish i knew more about it...

Well...Have a look at my sig.....I've got a stalled auto and it puts monster power to the ground. Not much to show on the dyno though.....

Your sig says "Bald 235's"... I would get some new MT drag radials and you should be able to drop your 60' down a tenth to a 1.6X easy... If you hit that, you should see a 12.8 or better.. You can see the results in my sig.

Look at my dyno numbers and track times in my sig and then tell me that dyno numbers have any bearing on actual performance.

And those are my old numbers BEFORE the stall. I'm sure they're lower now...

I had over a 40hp/50tq loss with my Fuddle unlocked vs. locked before my cam install. Click on the link in my sig and goto the second page to see the dyno graphs.

I looked at these graphs and want to work them into some
efficiency curves. Do not see a spray, locked one. Do you
have this?

And even more interesting, would you have raw dyno data
that relates delivered RWHP, RWTQ to MPH instead of RPM?
That's the real deal - at any given road speed, are you
better off stock or aftermarket, unlocked or locked? The
whole idea of the converter being to put you at your best
power RPM, as independent as possible of road speed.

Also, the converter particulars would be nice to know (esp.
how it relates to mine).

I didn't spry it locked.*didn't feel like maybe walking home 150miles* And all my graphs have been rpm based.
The converter I ordered was a 3600rpm 2.2str I belive.

why is it that all the multiplied torque only materializes on the track and not the dyno? what is the science behind it? or, what element of the dyno's translations causes it to not show the power that is obviously there on the track?

But it was a locked converter Unlocked it would be lucky to hit 300rwhp.
