Default cam retarding Need new tune?

IVe got a 382 speed inc stroker, stage 2 patriots, typhoon intake, 4l60e with 3500 verter. all boltons.

has a comp 240/248 609/615 112+4 cam. it was tuned with this cam installed dot to dot. at the dyno the car flatlined at 5300 and carried it to 6300 before droping like bricks. I wanted it to spin much higher so I retarded my cam 6 degrees. basically -2 degrees since it has 4 degrees ground in. this brought my dcr from 9.37- 8.77. static is 11.5. Pump gas motor. anyhow I knew it was going to lose bottom end but it doesnt seem like its picked up any top end. Is this a result of the tune or the cam not working well up top? Just dont want to spend all the cash to get back on the dyno if there is a problem.

TIA
Mike

What you need to do is degree the cam. There's always a slim chance that the cam could be off and dot to dot isn't always accurate.

thats not the question. i changed it from dot to dot(4degrees advanced) to basically -2 degrees. used the -6 slot on my rollmaster chain. I was wondering since it was tuned for it falling off up top would it act the same after degreeing it.

car thumps alot more crisper and revs a ton cleaner. just pulling just like it did before up top.

A 240 degree intake duration w/ 108 icl should not flat line or peak at 5300 rpm, more like 6300+ rpm. You have some other problem or restiction outside the cam, valve events or tune w/ your set up. Futher confirmed by you retarding the intake lobe 6 degrees and not gaining top end hp.

You're not understanding. Just because you put the cam in dot to dot or used whatever slot on your timing chain doesnt mean that its correct. Also could be a problem with springs.

Either which way you will need to retune for the new timing yes.

Yes,you will need to retune but I doubt the Cam did that.Probly another problem like the tranny/Verter blowing through.
