putting that cam in a car with stock heads and a stock intake is probably the worst thing you could do. you really need to do a few key mods to help the cam shine. ls6 intake MINIMUM. i hit 395 rwhp though an auto with a g5x3, stock heads, and ls6 intake, also went 11.8's with that setup.

I think he's realizing where his power is at, and what he needs to do to find it.

Anyone know where the best/cheapest place to get LS6 intakes is?

Plus 98 heads flow soooo rediculously bad, def need to see if you can pick up a cheap pair of ls6 heads, even stock ones, and you will see a ton more power. That and a ported tb, ls6 intake, and pulley.

Either used from a member or see if you can find one at a junk yard. Otherwise they are pretty much all $460 from most sponsors as slp has set the price at that level and pretty much they cant discount it.

ls6 intakes on the corvetteforum dot com all day long for $300-$350 shipped!!!

ls6 heads are going for $500 over there as well

im glad others noticed what i saw as well 98 heads are the bottle neck more than the intake is

sounds like you got some good advice, give us an update after you get a few things resolved.

He's dead on. Your poor flowing heads, and bad exhaust are causing a terrible breathing and exhaling environment. Not to mention that shitty LS1 intake. Get a 90/90 ported combo and some long tube headers and some LS6 heads like Camaro Zach said and you should see a TON more power. Good luck.

FYI the 98 heads have the same ports as all the other year LS1 heads. The only difference is that GM changed the way the heads were cast resulting in a slightly better finish on the ports surface.

hey i'm glad to hear maybe the 98 heads are that much different than the other years then....

and i do have long tube headers, and just added a cutout right after the offroad y, so the exhaust side will be flowing plenty good. i just paid a guy for an ls6 intake, hoping it will come in real early next week....

i sure hope this stuff really helps cause i'm having a pretty hard time turning my 315 nitto's....

Yeah Mike, I was just echoing some of the statements that you and Zach posted before I had a chance to. Anyways hopefully he takes everyones advice and lets that SOB breath a lot better. Then he'll see what the g5x4 can do.

Can't wait to go check out that post Mike, and thanks. Running late for work and I am driving my daily , not the vette so I won't be hitting 190 on the way to work today. Later and happy holidays to everyone.

You beat me to it. The flow numbers are basically identical to 241 castings.

Sounds like a plan. I'll have new headgaskets in March 07. Car is sitting in the garage making me sick. I don't even look at it. I am going to miss starting her up every week over the winter to keep the battery charged and listen to that sweet exhaust rumble. That **** was like music to my ears. Oh well March will be here soon enough. Mike shoot me an email or PM and we'll set something up.
