Default 400rwhp Bolt on Ls1 - Think I'm almost there

I think I'm gonna try for 400rwhp with stock internals. I did a search and I dont think it has been done yet. I saw a ls2 vette with a Fast intake manifold get it, but not a Ls1.

I am not gonna swap to a Fast intake, but if I did, would it still be stock internal?

The reason I think I'm close is the car is trapping almost 6 mph higher since doing the headers, y pipe, TB, and Crank pulley. I dont have a custom tune on the car other than using the Diablo. Before the mods in the previous 2 sentences, It dynoed 346 rwhp. I'm gonna find out this week what its at now, and maybe with a custom tune I can get close. The last thing I think I'll need are some 1.85 rockers and springs, which I want to do anyway. I have heard 15rwhp from this. If I get the number, I think I'll forgoe a cam swap for atleast another year anyway. Any thoughts?

You dynoed 345 before all those mods? And you ran a low 12....somethign is up with your car. It's def a freak. Most dyno 345 WITH LT's....very strange.

Did you purchase the car new? If not I would wonder if it has already been opened. Those times and numbers are not common at all for a stock internal, FULL WEIGHT, car. I've got cam only cars that trap that.

I've been here for long time reading & learning every day but in your case there's something strange i'm not saying ya BSing but a 346rwhp completely stock sounds like a damn high besides to achieve 400rwhp with SI even with all possible bolt-ons sounds impossible just my .02 .

Anyway Good luck man .

peace

It could have probably been cracked open before.... Those are pretty stout number for being stock.

I was almost there. Pully and EWP away. On a shortbelt with my car (in sig) we recorded 415/413 stock longblock

Ive seen as high as 375 full bolt on SI car.

I dont mean to confuse anyone. It dynoed 345rwhp with catback, SLP mass air meter, Diablo handheld, SLP Lid, free mods. It went 110mph in this configuration.

I have since added the headers, ypipe, crank pulley and TB. Picked up almost 6 mph.

I bought the car with the mods in the first paragraph. I added the mods in the second paragraph.

I spoke with the original owner who told me the car is stock internally.

I don't want to bust your dreams, but I highly doubt you will see 400. With the headers and pulley you will prob see another 25-30. That leaves you 25 hp short of 400, and the FAST over the LS6 isn't going to give you that, especially on a stock cammed car. All that aside, those are some stout numbers with minimal mods. Congrats, you have a freak.

This is the graph when I first got the car. I will redyno this week hopefully.

I'll check the casting number on the heads today. I was not aware some F-bodies came with Ls6 motors...

I really doubt you will even get close to 400rwhp, and if you do I bet someone slapped an LS6 cam in there before you bought it.

But all the power to you man, go for it!

Peace,
Craig.

Sorry buddy, but it aint happen'n. I did 344/361 with stock mans., Y-pipe and cats through stock intake, TB, pulley and tune. The only mods I had were lid w/filter, cut-out and free mods. I trapped 113 full weight with a 12.18 in my M6 car with these mods. I have seen SI cars turn 116+ and not make anywhere near 400rwhp. These 01-02 cars do not make a TON off headers since the stack mans flow decent. Same with a 90/90. You will not see much on the dyno on a SI motor with it. Cam only and H/C cars see as much as 20/20 gain, but SI cars see very little.

Yeah, the dude must weigh 400lbs with a huge sterio system. My car is full weight with 9" and I weigh 200lbs+ and my rw is 3605. Where is the extra 300-400lbs coming from?

If you pull the valve covers and swap out for some 1.85 rockers and springs... Then you will NOT be STOCK INTERAL.

When my car went on the dyno they said the stock weight was 3750 WTF!! I didnt know the correct weight (never been to the scales) so he put that weight in, which really killed my numbers.
