Default Soon to be in the 'sweet' spot with RWHP

I took a ride over to harris speed works last friday and discussed my goals with my car and what I wanted accomplished by the end of the spring. They said that what Im looking to do should yeild about 450-475rwhp. They had also stated that this is the 'sweet' spot to be in.

1. not too much rwhp where traction is a problem
2. dusts mostly everything on the road
3. street-able. not so much hp where its impossible to drive
4. good for summer round driving

What do all you guys have to say about this kind of power? Whos there already? Do you still want more power??? haha

You will always want more power. But 475whp on good tires will out run 95% of the stuff on the street. It does sound like a good start though.

475 is nice then you'll want 575,then 675,then 775 and it goes on.

Right now I'm at 840rwhp and it feels slow as hell.Going for 1000+rwhp next on the street.

We dynoed my buddies '70 Nova at Superior in Long Beach Cal., it put down 465 RWHP. It has a very nicely built 383. The car runs 9.90's at 137 mph! You should learn to be sceptic about the RWHP numbers the dyno shows you.

My experiences is YES, 475-525 rwHP on a daily driver really is the sweet spot. My Single Turbo Supra was able to make more rwHP with race gas...however when tuned down for pump gas it made about 520 rwHP on a daily basis. It was borderline too much power at times and it was always so much fun. It's true (unfortunately) that you're never satisfied but if you like OTHER things in a car, such as handling, braking and beauty you'll probably find other things to focus on once you've hit 475+ rwHP.

My goal for my H/C setup is to hit 475 rwHP as I also feel that power level is great for the street.

there are more and more 4xx ci cars on the street than there ever have been thanks to the LS2 and the 6.0l iron block. i have the traction issues you are talking about with my 403. havent put it on the dyno, yet, cause the clutch doesnt hold the power over 5k rpms and im still breaking the tires loose 1st,2nd and 3rd shifting at 5k. once i get the clutch in ill find out what kind of power its putting out. its faster now than it was with the 347@6psi= 518/459. h/c bolt on 346 @ 475 is a nice goal that is obtainable, should be a bad ***! good luck!
