I think the quench is where I went wrong. I was too scared of hitting the pistons with the valves. I used a stock sized comedic. I think I should have quenched it more. But, I still have to see what A mamo ported 90 and stepped race headers do.
I’m running the old tried and true 224/228 114+1 with AFR 205’s 59cc. In a C5 with 4.10 gears this combo put down 440/417 on a Mustang dyno. As mentioned earlier there’s no need for a huge cam if you have the right setup.

I doubt your giving much up by choosing a stock size gasket. Your numbers are pretty damn stout with that rear end and an LS6 intake.
i have a question for those of you that chose to go with the smaller(22x/22x) cam and still make good power. do you think you would make more power if you had a bigger cam?

Yes, I would have made more power with a bigger cam, but the trade off would have been in street manners. When I had the Thunder Racing TRak Cam (231/234 112LSA), I made 487 rwhp and 436 rwtq...but the street manners weren't near as good as the cam I have, nor was the low-end torque. The cam I have would murder the TRak cam in most forms of racing (because it makes more average power from 3000-6500rpm). If I put in a 235/243 .646/649 110LSA +4 Donkey Dick cam, I'd make the same mid-range power and add 10-15 rwhp on top to what I already have. To some that's worth doing, but for a daily driven vehicle that has to go through 4 school zones every morning, it's not worth it for me.
