Default H/C setup for 450RWHP N/A

What H/C setup on a full bolt on 346 will consistently produce 450 RWHP N/A?
I have been leaning toward TSP 233/239 with a Patriot Stage II setup but now I am thinking there may be a better setup. Maybe something that works well with spray also? Thanks for any info.

Try this in the internal engine section. I know some bolt ons a f14 cam and dart 205s did it for me.

It can be done. Mine does it. I have ported and milled ls1 heads with 11.7:1 comp 236/230 cam, longtubes and it puts down 450 rw on tr6 plugs all day long with pump gas.

Mine did 490. TSP MS3, TSP 200cc Terminator Heads, FAST 90/NW90 and full bolt ons. It did 491/427 and that's on a nitrous tune, prolly could have gotten a bit more with a little more timing and a little less fuel.

440/400 through a TH400, steel DS, 12 bolt, 4.56 and 28" slicks with a set of 3 year old TEA 5.3's and a little itty bitty F11 cam slapped together in the garage.

I'm guessing the motor combo through a lighter driveline(DS/10 bolt/3.42-3.73's) would be ~ 475 or so. Same combo went 460/424 through the M6. Made the number every time

Bigger eent always better. Do the obligatory bolt ons and MATCH the H/C and you'll get your number-

Definately with 98ss2836 on this one. The g5x3 cam with AFR 205's plus boltons with proper tuning will yield 450+ rwhp all day long.

Do you already have a 233/239? Checkout some results in this section from the Precision Race Components heads. I think you'll find the heads out power the competitions cylinder heads in almost every thread. Run a search for recent results & check out the PRC heads consitancy compared to some of the other cylinder heads....

The TSP boys can def. help you out, They have some pretty good combo's that have proven themselves on the dyno and track. Give them a call and let them kow what you want from your car as far as possible ET's, numbers, streetability, etc.

The only other heads I would put over the PRC's are the TEA ported TFS's... but you are talking big money when coming to the TFS heads.

I have not bought any cam yet, I am looking to eventually spray the car so I
want a cam that works good with nitrous also, However I do like the sound of
the TSP 233/239 cam with True Duals does anyone have dyno numbers on this cam with a good set of heads???

With the right head chamber size (59 cc), tight quench (.040") and the proper intake (ported FAST 90), you can make over 450 rwhp even when running a small cam. My cam is a 223/227 LSK lobed cam (measured 224/228 actual). You'd be amazed how docile a 475 rwhp car can be when it's setup right. All these huge cams (MS3, MS4, T-Rex) are unnecessary to achieve 450 rwhp if you sweat the other details. All you need is a quality head...pick one (PRC, TEA, TFS, RHS, AFR, ETP, Patriot, LPE). They will all get you there as long as you follow the recipe (high dynamic compression, correct overlap, correct intake valve closing point, tight quench, unrestricted intake).

I've been wanting to ask this for a while. For the same HP goal as the original poster. Is there a preference for either a smaller chamber like the 58cc Patrick refers to as opposed to a custom piston and a larger chamber like 67cc when both yield the same DCR/SCR?

A small combustion chamber and a flat top piston will concentrate the burn to the center of the piston which does 2 things:
1. It allows the burn to happen faster because the flame front is shorter. This will allow you to make more power with less timing.
2. The side benefit is you can run more static and dynamic compression on the same octane.

Said another way: A 58cc chamber with a flat top piston may allow you to run 11.5:1 static compression and 8.5:1 dynamic compression on 91 octane, whereas a 68cc combustion chamber with a dome piston may only allow you to run a maximum of 11.0:1 SCR and 8.2:1 DCR safely on 91 octane. The extra compression will make more power on the same fuel.
