i'm guessing alot of these A4 guys are running locked on the dyno. i only pulled 275/292 through an unlocked converter, times improved alot though...

i would agree that dyno numbers dont mean anything, but also keep in mind your altitude at which you race at. but just to chime in, my buddies 98 m6 z28 with lid and k&n put down 298/317 at the wheels with 85k miles on it.

Well, I ended up getting the 98 Formula. I paid $5500 for it. Its Mechanically sound. It has some exterior flaws. It needs a new turn Signal assembly for the passenger side front as well as new fog lamp bulbs and the power antenna motor works but doesnt pull the antenna down. Inside, it needs a new CD player, The Steering wheel audio controls are all discolored/worn. It also needs a new headliner/ sunvisors. someone didnt secure the TTops it sounds like. But overall I think I got a good deal. What do you all think?

Bull, I dynoed 303 completely stock and 331 with headers, loudmouth and a tune. I also made 345 tq. on my 100k 98.

My 98 did just fine on the dyno, 362/370 with boltons. Minus electric water pump and pulley.

Good numbers guys, I'll be happy in the 300's w/ LT's, ORY. Hopefully after I get the LS6 intake & Tune, I'll be in the 320+ range. Im ordering the LT's this week!!

I bought mine (98 A4 T/A) originally with 119,000 on the clock. It had a slowmaster cat back and a lid when I dynoed it. Nothing else. Results were: 298 rwhp 318rwtq.

I just hope for the nice numbers. They dont mean as nearly as much as 1/4 mile times do to me. I dyno'd 320Rwhp/330rwtq w/ my full exhaust/intake & Dyno Tuned Z28, stock suspension w/275 Nitto 555r's & ran a 13.117@105.64MPH w/a 2.04 60' time. That was 2 foot braking it and flooring it @ the light, I know I could have got in the 12's with just a little pedal feathering.

Mine did something like 294whp/312tq when it had only a lid. After a cutout, 3800 converter, and some free mods, it dyno'd 302/312 unlocked.

And like you said, track matters more. I almost always beat any of the 6-speed bolt on guys around here at the strip. I've even pulled away from a couple bolt on 6-speed guys on the street, and auto's aren't the best for roll racing by any means.

For what it's worth, there's a another guy in town with an 01/02 with the same mods as me (lid, cutout, converter, free mods), and runs basically the same times as me at the track. 98's aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

I can't figure out why so many people think the 98's suck, just because we don't have a LS6 intake stock don't mean a thing. An LS1 is an LS1. My car runs damn strong, stronger than some 01-02 model's I've driven. What's the dyno difference between an 02 A/4 stock and a 98 A4 stock? Maybe a couple HP at most and I guarantee they both will run about the same in the 1/4. I'll have some dyno numbers by the middle of next month from my cammed 98 A4 and once I install my T-56 we'll see how much of a difference it made. It's HP testing time...

Yeah, Im not saying that they suck, Ive always heard there was a difference. My new 98 pulls about as hard as my 99Z28 did w/ Full Exhaust, CAI & Dyno Tune and the 98 just has a lid and a flowmaster muffler in place of the stocker. No 1/4 mile times though w/ the 98 as it sits though. I got LT's & ORY in the mail!! My Z28 ran 13.3's on avg @ 104 and the previous owner of my 98 Formula said he ran a 14.0 @ 101 on Kuhmos, in OD and just mashing it out of the box. Im pretty sure It will run mid 13's though.
