Default 98 LS1 = Dyno pig? Is it true??

Im looking at a 98 Formula A4. Only mods are an SLP Lid and Flowmaster Cat Back. I know that the Flowmaster is garbage but, what do you guys think one of these shall dyno w/ the mods? Its an A4 w/ 3.23 gears and it has 120k miles. Any help/opinions would be great.

Chris

I'd say a little over 300. Obviously, every car is different though.

my guess is 285...it has a lot going against it, its a 98, its an A4, it has a flowmaster, and it has 120k miles...a good combination for disappointing numbers IMO

What he said. With full boltons +062 VHP cam(210/218 @.551 on a 112 I only made about 330. We later changed out the cam to a TSP torquer V2 and it put down 350 rwhp. I recently add the TSP stage1 LS6 heads w/stock valves and we squeezed out 396RWHP.Which might not seem alot but the bitch ran a

60ft-----1.6751
1/8ET---7.6726
1/8mph--89.80
1/4et----12.0153
1/4mph--114.21

I wouldn't worry about what some dyno said. I would guage my performance on what kind of track time improvement/mph my car did on before/after you mod it.

I don't think that is really a big issue....not with a LS1.

I'd say it puts down 270-280ish.

My car put down 306whp untuned with a PTC 3500 stall with LT's. A4 cars just suck at the dyno.

I could agree w/ this. My 99 A4 Z28 (45000miles)dyno'ed 320HP/330TQ w/ MAC Midlengths, High Flow Catted Y-pipe, Lid, a Borla Cat Back and a tune. But it ran a 13.11 @105.6 MPH's w/a 2.04 60'. Its the track that matters.

My buddy's '98 M6 SS put down 310 with a lid and 4.10s at 100,000 miles. It probably would have been a little higher without the steeper gears.

This gives me hope!!!, Im looking at the car this morning. The owner has installed an SLP Lid and the 2 bad things are a Flowmaster Exhaust and SLP MAF sensor. He should have the stock parts too so Im throwing the stock MAF back on.
