Default Re-tuned the LT1 today...

Posted this in the LT1 section, but for those of you who do not tend to dwell over there, here you go.

Pretty excited about the new tune, it runs great, much better. I didn't really pick up any top end, but I really gained across the powerband and gained a bunch of torque.

It was tuned by HARV'S performance down in Whittier CA, if any of you are familiar. He is a real heads up tuner, and is the guy to see around here if Accel DFI is concerned. He used to be the tuner for Team VENOM when they were still racing. I highly recommend him if any of you are local in the SoCal area for DFI or FAST tuning.

Last dyno: 386rwhp/360rwtq (70k miles)
Heads
cc306 cam
STOCK INJECTORS
1 5/8 SHORTY headers/gutted cat
Stock intake elbow
Accel DFI (gen 6)
stock ignition
17 inch wheels

TODAY: 388rwhp/381rwtq (126k miles)
Same Heads
Same cam
SVO 42lb injectors
1 3/4 LONGTUBES/ 3 inch Y
Trickflow intake elbow
Accel DFI (gen 6)
MSD 6A and coil
18 inch wheels

Not magnificent, BUT my accelerated horsepower and hp and tq AVERAGE is much better, unreal in fact. The curves are so smooth, its great, I almost lost it, really, on the way home on a 2-3 shift (all over the road) which has NEVER happened before. A little tire spin or chirp maybe, but not anything taht mad my heart skip a beat.

I am producing about 27 rwhp more at 3k rpm. I picked up 21lb ft at peak, but at 3000 rpm, I picked up about 32-33 rwtq. Its WAY noticable on the street, I have much more usable HP and TQ. The car is already making about 350rwtq @ 3k rpm, where before, it was making about 315rwtq. BEFORE, it took until 4400 rpm to hit 300rwhp, now it hits 300 @ 4100 or so, hitting 200rwhp @3000rpm now, to 3500 as of before.

THE only thing I am concerned about is my springs on the heads are pretty much done.

The car used to produce peak power at 6350 rpm, now the car is producing its peak from 5500 to 6000, falling out at 6k+. SO, I know with a fresh set of springs I could be getting a bit more.

I'll be building a short block here soon (nothing special really) and plan on freshening the heads as well as an upgrade to an LE3 cam. I have to get this thing up over the 400rwhp mark.

After I try to test my luck with a 100 shot though of course....

Not bad for 126k on the shortblock I think.....

Looks like those LT's/ORY really helped out. I bet it sounds better now too. I miss my old LT1, I love how deep they sound I never did understand why it is that LT1's have more torque down low. I doubt it's the extra 4 cubes or the different firing order. Like you said though 350 rwtq at 3K rpms is great! I'm only at 300 rwtq at 3K and peak around 380.

I miss my LT1. I am thinking of picking on up for a daily driver. My old one got good gas milage & ran 13.30s with SLP headers & 4inch Mufflex Exhaust & Centerforce Clutch & Cold Air. Hell even stock it ran 13.9 @ 100 & the best time before I traded it in on my truck was a 13.30 @ 103, I bet your car runs some easy 11.80 on motor & on a 100shot some 11.30s

Nice times, CONGRATS

In all honesty I just want to be at a solid 410rwhp/390-400rwtq N/A with this car when its all said and done. I am going to also have some giggle juice handy soon, and plan on increasing the size of shot up to a 150 when I build the short block.

410rwhp+ 150 shot = 1 Nasty *** LT1!!!

Hard to find really strong LT1's representing around these days! You all know what I mean. My buddy over at Bottlefed racing told me that my numbers were the best he's EVER heard of from a stock shortblock car N/A!!! I couldn't believe it, because I see so many hot LT1's on the boards. But I guess when I think about it, they are spread nationwide, not so average if you know what I mean.

Do some of you remeber back in say 1995-96-97 when LT1 cars were just the hottest ticket around???? I remeber that when I went to local cruise spots, the nastiest sounding/running cars were all LT1's.

Do you remember that? Now all I ever hear is LS1 this and that. The LT1 is a lost motor these days. And for those of you who think I am biased, I own an LS1 car too (00' SS vert) and can definately admit, the LS1 is a bad m'fer.

Thanks for the comments guys. Appreciate it.

Morgan Motorsports Aggressor series (best LT1 heads they had).

Flow 290cfm on the intake.....ran $2500 for the set. Port Matched LT4 intake as well.

A new AFR Hydra Rev kit and some Beehive springs should have me revving back up to 6500.

One of the biggest reasons LT1s have more lowend torque is the same reason the ls1 has more topend horsepower---->bigger heads

LT1's don't have more torque, stock vs stock LS1's have more torque everywhere, LS1's just keep pulling harder and harder the higher you rev them so they don't feel like they have as much lowend.
