No sadly their is no drag strip in Oahu hawaii since Mar 2006..

But my 99 model runs any were from 11.7-12.3 at 115.9-121 mph. Depending on track conditions and who's driving...

The slowest magazine review I have personally seen is 12.3 at 115.9
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...97/pageId=3352

The fastest review i have seen is 11.7 at
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...05/ai_n9239712

You can look at the above list and see that their are many people running low 12's and high 11's bone stock in Gen2's just like mine..

one of the biggest misconceptions in that people think the newer SRT10's are that started in 2003 are faster than a 99 like mine..

On the dyno mine can put down a max of 420 rwhp stock while the SRT 10 can put down a max of 450 rwhp stock..

So across the board they have 30 more rwhp on average..

So they should be a little quicker right?????

well they would if they didnt have 19 inch tires..

The gen 2's like mine have eighter 17 or 18 inch tires depending on the year..

When you already have crappy 3.07 gears. Making the 2003 SRT10's have 1 inch taller tires defiently didnt help with performance..

Then gen 2's like mine have pilot tires wich are actually pretty grippy. The SRT10's on the other hand have run flat tires wich suck at the drag strip...

The record for a gen 2 viper 100% bone stock is 11.6. The SRT 10 viper has yet to beat that record..

So it's kinda funny sometimes when i tell people that my viper can do high 11's bone stock at 120 mph..

they find it so hard to beleave because thats what the 2003-2006 NEWER 510 HP vipers can do and think mine will only do 12.4 at 115 mph.

But look at that list above..30 rwhp obviously got off sided by the 1 inch taller tires and run flat tires..

because their is hardly any differance between a 1996-2002 Gen 2 Viper and 2003-2006 gen 3 viper as far as 1/4 mile is concerned other than the way they look.

Nice numbers man

My buddy's 98 Viper GTS with Venom 600 Engine Upgrade puts down 529rwhp/547rwtq SAE three months ago 90+F & 80+ humidity

I'll try to scan the graph to post it over here though .

peace

Gotta admit the viper is a nice car, but I think you should build the Vette up to smoke those vipers

I gotta be honest, if I had a Viper I'd have trouble putting money into a Vette (except the new Z06).

That's a lot of torque. When you do heads and cam, might as well beef up the internals and allow it to spin higher. All of that torque is just begging for some more RPM's.

yes, the early 385hp z06 had the .525 lift, when they switched to the .551 lift it went up 20 hp. so the LS6 heads add 35hp to the LS1. so, 350hp + 20hp(cam) and heads(35) = 405hp. the vettes always have had upgrades over the f-cars. LT1..they had better heads. LS1 they have better cam. LS6 intake is only rated at 325 over the previous 320 hp b/c of the .500 lift on the cam. if you broke down all the parts like i just did for the LS6, the number add up and match perfectly. a GM heavy duty tech showed my that when i worked at a chevy dealership and asked him to install a cam and which one would be the best daily driving cam from the GM performance selection.

While on paper that sounds right, but its completly different in the real world. You cant really say that this mod gives you X amount of power and this mod give you Y amount of power and when used together you get Z amount of power.

yeah the zo6 had a cam ,better heads all 01-02 cars had ls6 intake.do a part# search at your local dealer on a 98 vette cam then a 98 fbody ill promise you the #s will match.all ls1s have the same hp.a 305 hp car will not put down 300+hp at the wheels.use the SEARCH button before tryin to look smart the next time

You sure about that. Its plenty of stock cars that put down that or a little better off the showroom floor.

good luck on 600 rwhp. I think it was svs that just made 650wrhp on an all motor setup. I set of those stryker heads should work pretty good, although they'll set you back a few. 600 should be doable with a decent H/C package and all the supporting mods (T&D, a good set of headers, smooth tubes etc.) Who's going to tune the car if I might ask? The svs car was fast as **** or so it seemed. altough the car acted a little wierd when racing, if I had to bet, my guess is that they were spraying a 150 shot on it too.

Looks like it's time for you to use the search button As mentioned there are plenty of stock f-bods putting down 300+ at the wheels. GM underrated the HP of our cars a LOT. I used to have a '98 "305 HP" trans am that dynoed 311 RWHP with only an aftermarket catback exhaust.

Bakc on topic:
I cant wait to see what the 08 vipers lay down since theyre upping the displacement to 8.4L w/600hp. Also with a lot more color choices. Should be a sick car.

It looks like thats exactly what hes trying to say, they put down 300+rwhp because they have more than 305hp.

it takes at least 340 hp to lay down 300 at the wheels .i am ase certified technician and 5hp doesnt equal 15percent you loose anywere from 10 t0 15 percent thru your drivetrain.all im saying is the ls1 has 350hp in all cars.the vette ls6 engine.is different.it has better cam and heads and more power.it takes more than 305hp to lay down 305 at the wheels use some common sense
