With the UP and FAST 90/90 you should see 500rwhp.

and some lighter wheels

alright guys so just out of curiosity.... how much do heavy wheels really affect dyno numbers?

im trying to figure out wher eim lacking some power besides the whole "patriot heads dont be long on a 408" rant. .hehe

head gaskets are a little too thick... .051 squish MLS gm gaskets. I have 2 or 3 valves that are beginning to mushroom on the top (old style patriots) i need to get these few things fixed but i just havent gotten around to it. are they the type of things that would really cost me some power?? i know that a thinner (.040 or .037ish ) head gasket would net me some more compression and better quench.. but does quench really = power?

Not to be a dick, but isnt 479HP on a 408 with stage 3 heads and a 250+ cam pretty low? I would think it should be making way more power than that.

Yes it does, heres why.

Quench is the area that the compressed mix is squished into. The smaller this area is, the more turbulant that the mix is and that causes the mixture to be mixed better. This leads to a good, evenly disbursed flame front, which lessens the hot spots in the chamber which redeces detonation chances which in turn allows you to run more spark advance safely. More spark advance = more power, to a point.

Quench area is very important in designing a high HP engine. With your setup id be looking to be in the .035 and under area. How far do your pistons come out of the hole? Quench = gasket thickness + piston deck height

k so with my quench at .051 i have successfully ran 31 degrees of timing with no detonation... i actually gained power dropping it down to 28.5 degrees though

Whats your compression ratio though? By going with a thinner gasket you will up compression and improve quench.

meh... the heads were meant for a 346... im still running a stock LS6, Stock throttle body, small headers, no underdrive, AC, and dynoing on 19" chrome C6 Z06 wheels.... there is alot of power left in the setup. i think my numbers are pretty well right in line for average 408 results.

not to mention this is through an IRS vette rear end so you have to roughly compare my numbers with automatic Fbodies to get a good comparison.

heads are 62 CC's (milled 65 cc patriots) pistons are 8cc dish, and block is zero decked.

compression comes out to exactly 11.381 : 1

yeah the intake/tb is hurting you greatly with that cam. Hopefully get a good gain when you upgrade.

yeah but realistically is it worth the money to upgrade??? id then have to either machine my plate kit or get a new plate.. just dont know that $1000 is worth it for another 20-30 RWHP......

Not a good comparision there. Most six speed vettes will actually dyno better than Fbodies. The IRS does not lose that much considering most six speed Fbodies have more gear, which takes away power.

you lost me... gearing has nothign to do with anything... you dyno in 4th gear which is 1:1 all stick cars come with 3:42 rear gear from the factory...

hey nice numbers man.... seem good enough to me considering the intake restrictions and wheels

but how heavy are those wheels, they dont look like they have much mass to them since the spokes are very small.

they actually are pretty damn heavy... when you think about its not the spokes that weighs the most.. its the circumference of the wheel and also being 9.5" wide... overall area on that diameter of wheel is quite high which means more metal, which in turn also adds a ton of material and of coarse weight.
