Default unlocked vs. locked?

before the motor spun a rod barring, it got 407rwhp at 6200 rpm unlocked. what typically would that be when locked?

You will never know. Seriously, unless you logged the efficiency of the converter through the rpm range, no one can answer that question. And even then, it would be a calculated guess. The only way to know (or have known) is to dyno it locked. Sorry.

there is alot of factors that could vary it, expect it should be more but again, you could have false knock from the bearing being spun, who knows. get it fixed and get the tuner to lock the converter.

Sorry to hear about your luck. Mine locked pulled 520rwhp. Think unlocked was around 490rwhp. My A4 and stall with 12blot and heavy ZR-1`s eat some power up!!

what would a false knock do in this case? show it dynoed more than it probably should have or something?

Well if it was on its way to being spun there had to be some noise in the motor, mine did that before actually making the "noise" It would pull back timing, hence less power, so it could have been lower. I am speculating but if your doing 400 on a tr224 cam, stall, intake and exhaust, then you were doing pretty good.

it isn't a 224 cam anymore ... it is a 230/234 595/585 cam.

thats still pretty good, if you do 430, then its a good day, remember, stalled auto's dyno like pigs but make great track et's I wished my 383 LT1 could do over 400 on a emission friendly cam.

SI I had 333 locked, 318 unlocked. Heads/cam I have 483 locked, 459 unlocked. It's about 5% for me give or take. This is with a PT4000 converter through a 12 bolt, 3.90 gears and slicks. Just for comparison.

What did it sould like when it spun the bearing? Do you have clip? I have never heard what a soun bearing sound like. Does the motor act different or just make a noise?

hard to say. I have seen nearly as much as 40hp difference between locked and unlocked and as little as 10rwhp difference. some of it depends on your converter.
