Default Torque 346 vs. 383?

I have not read too much info about 383's on here. It seems every one just steps up to a 408. I find my self building one right now. Can you pretty much factor in 1hp and 1tq per cube. I am looking to make 475rwhp and 450rwtq. Here is the combo.

02 Z06
383 Eagle Forged crank and rods
-7cc Diamond Pistons
AFR 205's 59cc Up graded springs
.040 Cometics
11.8 SCR / 8.69 DCR
239/244 .651 .612 112+2
Comp 850's
LS6 Ported stock TB
Stock injectors
ASP UD
Dynomaxx LTs gutted catts
Borla cat back
Vararam

I know that the LS6 is hurting me but what about the injectors?

You will probably need to step up on injector size depending on the duty cycles. A ported F90 will really help especally with the added cubes but you will still make killer power the the LS6. Your power goals are easily obtainable. The 383 will out torque the 346 all through the powerband, especially the midrange. It will be very noticeable.

I would go with 40 or 42 lb injectors. The injectors can be adjusted with HPTuner software.

Bigger the cubes. The more TRQ you get. My power and TRQ curve is awsome. I would step up to a 408 bigtime. From Red light to red light this thing freaking smokes ***!! I love mine!

Thanks guys. How does the combo look to all of you? The motor was FI before this and was making 635/550rw, so any thing NA is going to be a step down. It broke a piston and took the whole motor with it. I had to sell all the FI stuff to pay for this endevor. I am basicly building this motor right now on a budget with buying good base parts for a nasty 440 in the near future. I would love to get the 90/90 but a ported unit will cost about 2 G's. For $2,400 I can get a sheet metal intake that will more than meet my future goals which I think a 90/90 will limit me. I figured that I would need 42's at least but was thinking of just going strait to 60's considering my later asperations. I ran them on my FI 346 with no issues.

Like the set-up. I also like the sheetmetal intake I`m getting a beck put on as we speak.

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm looking for a used budget LS1 383 short or longblock. If anyone knows where I could get one, I'd appreciate a PM.

Beard. I see you have th TPIS TB. Is there any reason you didn't go with their sheet metal intake. That is the one I was refering to in my post. I know Beck makes some great stuff. Just wondering.

Setup right you should exceed your goals. Check out my sig and notice the cats, octane, intake and gears. You would have better heads IMO and with stock gears and no cats you could be nocking on 500whp's door. I went with SVO 30's for injectors though.

I'd really like a set of 215cc trickflows and a ported fast 90 to wake up my old 383. Maybe in a year or so

Hello
I put down 497/460 with 315's and a 9inch with 4.11's. Your combo all most looks like mine but my cam doesn't have as much lift. You shouldn't have any problems getting 475. Good luck

Like mentioned before I would step up to a FAST 90 manifold, and you definitely need injectors. A set of SVO 30's would get the job done. Other than that if you are planning future mods consider some heads with bigger ports.

Thanks for the imput guys. My set up is similar to some of you guys, and you all exceed what I expected. Both with the FAST and with out. I talked to my tuner today and he is setting me up with some 42's when I hit the dyno. In a year or two I hope to step up to a 440 or so with a piston change and an LSX block. I will have my heads max ported by Thunder or sell them for a set of CNC L92's from TSP. Either way I think a sheet metal manifold will be the way to go on either of these heads. I was thinking solid roller as well. I want to make 600+ on the motor and run a TNT 250 shot. That is the final goal. I am sure I will have to step up the exhaust to 1 7/8". Or I can go the other way back to FI. Again with a head change and a 2.8 KB blower. It will come down to power per dollar and what I can live with on the street. So I will give the lumpy cam larger displacement thing a chance again and see how I like it. I did get tired of it before, along with my wife and neighbors. I just want ten second trap speeds again on a daily driven Z06.

yeah, seeing bolt on cars can run the injectors around 80%. I would not even try this setup with the stock injectors at WOT, you will be well over 100%
