one of my best buds had a 92 Cobra w/ a 306 (8.5 compression), Vortech non intercooled 12lbs, untouched Edelbrock performer heads, untouched Cobra intake, TKO and 8.8 w/ 3.55 making 586rwhp on 91 octane w/ a lil meth.

so that guy making that much HP, I can see it.

Hey Andrew91GT, didn't you make 600 RWHP with a 302, T-trim and and TW 185's?
My car made 612 rwhp with the stock 140k mile shortblock, a set of your TW 185s, and a T trim with 72/28 tooth pullies and the stock 6250 rpm rev limiter. I had upgraded to 83# injectors though...

Those heads were really good heads. I ended up running 5.56 @ 128 with 21 psi boost with those on a 347... I think they had a high 5.3 in them.

Then again, the heads that I have on my Z06 and my mustang aren't too shabby either!

I think that would make you the fastest guy in the country with TW 185 heads

Seems like TFS should give you some kind of reward or compensation

not possible. 500whp at most.

i maxed out 42lb injectors on my 347 vortech supercharged at 489whp. This guy only has 36lb injectors. Its BS.

Either your BSFC was crap or you didn't have optimum timing or maybe you didn't have a boost sensitive FPR....

I made 515 rwhp with my 42's with no issue and 572 rwhp with the 42's going static.

If the guy has an FMU it could happen... effective injector size is determined by

Size(new) = Size(old)* sqrt(new pressure differential/old pressure differential)

Say he's got 36# injectors set at 38 psi pressure differential (with a 1:1 FPR)... with an FMU he could conceivably run 100psi fuel pressure (he would have to have a GOOD fuel pump to deliver the required volume at that pressure) and at 15 psi boost that gives him a new pressure differential of 85 psi. This gives us a new injector size of

Size(new) = 36 * sqrt(85/38) = 53.84 lb/hr.

Power = number of cylinders * injector size / BSFC.
Power = 8 * 53.84 / .65 = 662.64 flywheel horsepower (being very conservative with BSFC for this blown application)

Assuming 15% driveline loss that is 563 rwhp, right around the number claimed assuming 100% duty cycle on the injectors.

Wow, I don't think I've seen our community so split over something before. Some guys saying yes it's totally do-able, and some guys are saying no way, not possible.

I think he has a pretty good combination, but I'd doubt 560 to the wheels.

the guy I posted about has a 255 intake, vortech inline and 42# injectors...at about 5500rpm is starts to lean out a bit to a still safe 12.1 at 6200rpm but from 3,000 to 5500 it's about 11.2-11.5

I can see that power too. I got a junkyard 351, threw some TW heads, cam, victor jr, carb and made 450rwhp. On a 200 shot it did 600. That was with some TW heads that are 11 years old...some I got from Keith Craft and when 300cfm out of them was a big deal..lol.

well thats great for you. a good buddy of mine's gf has a procharged durango making just shy of 470rwhp through a stalled auto with stock 24lbs injectors and the procharger electric FMU. it goes lean towards redline but i dont see why 36's couldnt support over 500rwhp. and just to prove its not a BS story, you can see her old dyno numbers on prochargers website under the truck section. its the only white durango on there AFAIK. she upgraded the intercooler since then and now runs 15psi instead of the listed 10. i can get a picture of the current dyno chart as well. and as the last bit of proof, you cant run larger injectors than 24lb'ers with the stock ecu in that truck. you have to move to a stand alone.

im going to run a 255 in tank walbro and 30lb'ers in my LT1 with a 150 shot and hope for a **** hair under 500rwhp with the other mods in the sig. my research shows that fuel combo should be good for between 530-550rwhp.

Injectors don't seem to like running above 75psi though. FMU's are a bandaid to not running the correct sized injectors.

FWIW:
Add me to the 2-cracked blocks club! Approx. 700rwhp (behind the auto!) did this one in this weekend. Was ready to build something new anyway so not a huge deal, just gotta decide which way to build next.

I agree with you on both counts, however, that doesn't mean you can't do it!
