Not about what they're made of but rather how much time it takes to make them.
There is not much room under the hood of an e36 based BMW. The steering shaft has to travel through the headers, and the tubes have to make some funky bends around the mounts to fit and to be equal length. On the passenger side there is also limited room, try and find the starter in this pic
