Or how about this review......

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...2&Profile=1008

Looks like the SRT10 hit 46.8 mph while the C6Z06 hit 45.6 mph...Both on the same 490 ft salom...

While the C6Z06 kicked but at the drag strip with a 12.0 at 121.2 VS the Vipers 12.3 at 117.8 mph

Again Im not making this crap up

Also, most if not all those tests were against the '06 Z06. The '07 model rear suspension was tweaked to eliminate that "twitchiness". It set a time record on a road course in Virginia (can't remember the exact name), besting the times of both the Viper and the Ford GT. 1st car to break under the 3 minute mark.

In all fairness though, the record didn't last long, as the 600 hp '08 Viper recently beat it by about a second.

I can see it now..

Killemall gets his *** handed to him by a Z06 (just like he has been, nothing new) and gets out of the car, furious, and states "well, atleast I beat you in popular mechanics"

Killeman... Vipers are nice and fast but as of yet your car hasn't trapped 122 mph cause you haven't been to the track, so stop claiming that. Performance computers are ok but no one takes them seriously unless you're using one of those big dollar ones.

Wow, are people still talking about this?

The guy loves his Viper and is trying to defend it. He may be right, he may be wrong. So what? I think you guys have it backwards. You'd have to be a complete dumbass to NOT defend a car like that that you bought, not vice versa.

Hey guys..Ive stated several times that stock for stock a C6Z06 is capable of 126-127 mph trapps while the SRT10 is only capable of 123-124 mph trapps..

In my book thats pretty one sided...

With average drivers your looking at 120 mph trapps for the Viper and 124 mph trapps for the C6Z06..

Again normal guy to normal guy thats an *** whooping...

But I just get tired of the Handling BS....

Yes the 1992-1995 Vipers were a night mare..But so was just about every car back then handling wise...

But no one even talks about 1992 Vettes or mustangs to much besides maybe the ZR1..

But the 1992 viper with it's 400 HP is still pretty damn fast with it's high 12's at 110 plus mph...So pweople still associate it with newer cars and say how Vipers handling sucks...

Then there was the gen 2 rt10 and GTS...Huge step up handling wise and these guys dominated road courses through the late 90's and early 2000's...But it took a skilled hand to master them and many of these 410 rwhp bone stock beaste were nebver tamed and thrown into walls..MANY..

And so the Viper non handling legend continued...

But in 2003 Dodge had a plan..And that was to improve the Handling/braking significantly...

They only made the car a little faster ( 2-3 tenths and 2-3 mph) But the 2002 GTS's 12.2 at 117-120 mph was fast as hell ack in 2002 so just a lil faster was more than enough...

The Viper went from having horrible brakes and extremely hard to master handling to world class brakes and world class handling in one model year...

Yet many of you say it's an non-handling heavy pig..

Even though it weighs 3380 pounds and can stump a C5Z06 around a road course, and as Ive proven..Tie or sometimes beat the C6Z06....

Not gonna argue the straightline stuff...Stock for stock the C6Z06 trapps 3-4 mph higher in most cases.

But the 03 and up Vipers are extremely good handlers

I personally couldn't care less about road course performance. I think most LS1Tech members are more interested in straight line performance. You are much more likely to encounter a straight line race on the street (at least around here)...not that anyone on this forum races on the street...

I actually love Vipers...a lot, but when the Vette SS comes out the Viper guys are gonna be F*CKED. Are the Viper guys then gonna make the excuse "yeah but the Viper is $15000 less?" The same can be said for the C6Z06 vs. 08 Viper debate. Truth be told, if money wasn't an issue I would take an 08 Viper over a C6Z06 any day just because they look soo bad ***.

Well I figure it like this..

We had our track here on Oahu Hawaii and there was another track on the island of Maui Hawaii..

The stock camaros at our track were running 13.7's at 103
The stock camaros at the maui track were running 13.4's at 106

Go run a stock camaro in Florida and you'll be lucky to run a 13.6 at 104
Run that same camaro at ATCO and you'll run a 13.1 at 108

The point of this is that a time slip isnt any more acurrate than anything else..As tracks very for multiple reasons.

But if 450 rwhp SRT10's can trapp 120-123 mph in just about every publication..What wrong with me claiming my 122 mph trapp from my FX2 and especially with 460 rwhp?????

I took the FX2 to the drag strip and tested it and it was VERY acurate..

459 rwhp...492 rwt...3380 pounds...122 mph trapp seem unrealistic? To me that actually conservative

Magazine racing is almost as gay as dyno racing. You have a badass ride, stop reading about it in car rags and go enjoy it.

stop reading about it and enjoy it....

Looks to me that in only one month of ownership Ive..

-raced a 435 rwhp 3.33 geared ACR Viper
-Raced a 410 rwhp fbody
-raced a 455 rwhp C6Z06
-logged 21 1/4 mile runs
-dynoed the car

Trust me I run all my cars hard

Seriously dude, you spend waayyy too much time defending your ride. Just let your tail lights do the talking. If you do lose, take it like a man -don't make excuses. And for God's sake stop being so confrontational/defensive! Just chill the f*ck out, we all love you.

Hmmm, I wonder how many of the people bashing the Viper owner have driven - let alone own - a C6 Z06. My guess is, not very many. So, before people call him a "magazine racer" I'd invite them to take out a second mortgage on their home or raid their kids college fund, and head down to their local Chevy dealer and buy a Z06. Because if you have never driven one, owned one, or raced one, you are a magazine/internet racer as well.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, I just find it humorous how a group of people can - with no first hand experience - claim one vehicle (with very similar performance) will win 100% of the time. That's ridiculous.

Put your wife in a Z06 and Ranger in the Viper, and he'll kick the Vette's butt all day long. Now, put your wife in the Viper and Ranger in the Vette, and the opposite will happen.

Dayum...I never even thought of it that wayyyy...But it's very true...

As for defending the Viper...

All I did was post up a kool dyno session...

Then people came out of the woodworks calling my 3380 pound Viper a heavy pig....I find that funny. As in my eyes 33xx pounds is VERY impressive for a car with a 505 cubic inch V10...

The Fbodys have a 346 cubic inch V8 and weigh 3475 pounds

My auto C5 had the same 346 cubic inch V8 and weighed 3310 pounds

I just think it's funny that nowadays a car with a 505 CI engine that weighs 3380 pounds is considered a fat Pig..

So yea I defended that....

Vids very soon of my 3380 pound FAT PIG and the super lightweight 3190 pound C6Z06

Hmm, I've never been too concerned with the viper's on a road course... except for CF bodied 550rwhp non-plated monsters and that level of ilk...

the brake problem on the vipers was from having shittastic idea to have no ABS... but then again, stock brakes on any production car sans ceramic setups are still just street brakes.

What I generally see is that the viper dude thinks his car is "all that and a bag of chips," and thinks road racing should have a drag racing section. There are some sick modified vipers though that I can't compete with unless I decide to blow a good 50K on CF'ing the whole car, reduce weight, among other things that'll make car no more streetable.

I'm not really against the viper, I just don't care for it because of my interactions with most owners, and the feel of sitting so far back and the weird viewing (at least to me). If I ran into a bunch of friendly viper guys, then I woulda jumped ship from the 'vette, from a finanical stance and a ease to attain my goal viewpoint.
