Question Need Opinions from the Dyno Gods!!!

Looking for opinions from the dyno gods in here. In my sig you'll see all of my bolt on's. I just added the heads, cam, stall, gears, lifters, oil pump, timing chain and had the car re-dyno tuned. Now prior to this install I had the BBk SSI Intake Manifold and 80MM T/b, Slp 85MM MAFS, Dynatech LT Headers and Y Pipe, Magnaflow Catback and FIPK installed and it dyno tuned at 340 rwhp and 350rwtq. After the header/cam/stall/3:73's install it dyno tuned at 382 rwhp and 327 rwtq. Now 170 miles = a full tank of 93. Its running rich. I can smell and see gray smoke coming out of the tail pipe. And i have to shift into neutral at red lights and stop signs reving it up to keep it from stalling out, on top of the fact that its constantly searching anywhere from 500 rpms-1500rpms looking for its idol. I'm taking it to a different shop on friday to get it re-tuned and dynoed. Please tell me that im right in thinking that it has a horrible tune on it and that it can be tuned to be driveable and that atleast my rwtq #'s should be higher...Thanks in advance......

Horrible tune is right, lol.

Well not necessarily horrible but either they didnt have time to finish what they were doing or they dont know what they are doing...

With a proper tune you should be at about high 12's, low 13's A/F ratio on a wideband with NA... You shouldnt have surge issues unless your running a ginormous cam, and it shouldnt stall out at all...

Thats just my opinion though.

It's too easy to blame the tuner... those numbers are WAAAYYY low (tq) indicating a problem like a cracked plug/bad plug wire etc.. They are indicative of something physical. The non-idling I can't say, could be tuning or could be related to your issue. What the tuner SHOULD have done after the first pull (seeing the low numbers) is take it off the dyno and tell you to come get it and straighten out whatever is wrong (or helped you determine what is wrong) BEFORE moving ahead with tuning it. Good luck with your car.

There is something else going on there - did you contact the tuner about it? I know if I tuned it and that was happening, I would tell you to bring it back so I could help you determine what is going on. You could have a bad sensor causing an issue making it run rich. Was it doing that from the time you drove it away from the tuner, or did it start later? The numbers don't mean all that much trying to compare them to the past - all dynos are different... and even the same dyno has to be calibrated from time to time and can change the numbers. It is a tuning tool, and you can only get out of a given combination what you can get...

I'm reluctant to respond because that would indicate I believe I am a dyno GOD.

Well I got home from work tonight and had just got on here to see if I had any responses to my two threads and my phone rang. It was not only the owner of the buisness that did my parts install, but also the gentelman that did the tune on my car. Now I new right away that they had to be calling cause they read on here that I wasnt happy with my tune and figured out who Mikes02z28 was. I just have to say that I have nothing but respect for these guys. Most buisness's/ shops now adays just want to get your money and run with it and if your not happy then o'well. The only thing that they wanted was for me to be happy and for my car to be running 100%. I explained to them that the reason that I hadnt called them was not because I didnt trust them ( because I know that they do good work ) but that its difficult with my schedule(life in general) to get to them. So I was just trying to find a tuner a lil closer to me.They wouldnt hear of it. They offered to come get my car and bring it back to me, to come to me to check the tune or for any problems that might have arose since they worked on it and everything inbetween. To me that says alot about not just a persons character or a buisness's character but about the pride that F-BODY CENTRAL takes in there work and in there customers satisfaction.
