My goal was at least 400hp and a smooth powerband. I thought I would get 415ish due to the cam, heads, and headers.

I am very happy with the power it put out and I'm sure a little more could be squeezed out of it but it's more then enough for my needs. It was only run to 6000rpm...for now.

I thought I would go through several cams until I find the "one" that fits my application best but I think I'll stick with this one. I had a grin across my face all day today while hitting it at the track. It is definately a learning curb coming from my previous 4 banger (5 speed Nissan KA24DE-T with about 300hp) to this.

Results: 440.6hp & 406.2tq

Below image is a photoshop overlay of the above chart. Makes reading it a little easier but it could be off slightly.

Unfortunately no since I was driving but there were a lot of people out there and usually a vid or two pops up. If I find one I'll toss up a link.

Why only 6k rpms? You're dropping way out of your powerband if you're only shifting at 6k rpms with a cam/fast 90 setup that should peak around 6400. Thats a 450whp setup man

Nice results..
Patriot heads are by far the best bang for the buck..

And don't let anyone tell you that your car should rev higher because it makes "X" hp... why make 440 at 7k when you make it at 6k...

Nice combo.. congrats.

By not reving higher, regardless of peak power, he's dropping out of his power band every shift.

I agree with you but just keep in mind this application is not for drag racing or any timed racing. I'm hesitant to say this but it is for drifting. Even at 3000rpm this engine makes more then enough then what I need.

We do plan on bumping the RPM up but the RPM alone isn't going to make much difference for me since the gearing is going to have to change to utilize the powerband better.

One of the reasons I dumped my old engine and went with the LS1 is because dropping out the powerband is just going to happen but this motor just gets right back into it. I think I found my favorite engine.

Makes sense now. Right on then brother man. Great power and for what you're using it for, I think it'll get the job done just fine

as someoen who's blown 2 motors drifting due to the awesomeness of the oiling system the ls1 comes with at sustained high rpm theres no need to rev it higher if you dont have to.

but i do reccommend an accusump.

nice #'s gary.
