Streetable.... would the pregnant wife ride in it.... or are we talking about can you sneak around and hope that you don't get pulled over by a cop who asks if that thing is stock and do you have everything you're supposed to have on it.
Most of us fit into the second category.

The Original poster said 346 ci N/A ...... I think you might have missed that.
I personally don't think anyone will make a tame 346 that pushes anything past 515 rwhp. I know the beast at LGM putting down 530 + to the wheels that ran 140 in the 1/4 certainly wasn't smooth. Super high idle, and rough.
Another question is balance. Balance between peak power, and power under the curve. Balance between having a cam so nasty that you don't have to change the valve springs everytime you change your oil, and a cam big enough to make power that doesn't kill your expensive valve springs.
Max effort 346's come at a cost. High dollars and high maintainence. JMO

my 346 solid with ET 225's and a sheetmetal intake pulled 526 at 7800...of course it only made 396 ft/lbs peak. It was a bear to street drive.
11.8 comp. cam was 262/268 .734 lift on a 112. It was fun while it lasted...which wasn't long.
It was a HUGE gamble that didn't pay off.

510/440....still drivable
Here you go....

A build just like my optimized former set-up (my 224 cammed 346 that put down 475-480 RWHP), with about 15' more duration in the cam (238/242 on a 113 LSA).
I helped the owner select and acquire most of the components....we were both confident a similar build with a much more aggressive stick could easily clear 500 RWHP.
While the pregnant wife in the passenger seat may be a stretch (unless she's totally cool and into hotrods!), this car is still very streetable and makes perfect sense for an aggressive owner looking for a hard running Friday night bullit.
To be honest someone who likes an aggressive ride could seriously drive Dennis's C5 every day....its just that I would personally opt to be a little more conservative if it was truly going to be a daily driver.

We have made 521/450 something... 509/440 something and 502/440 something with TFS 215s/Vindicator Camshaft staying under 12:1 compression and still being VERY street friendly.... As said above, it can be done its just VERY difficult to do.
BTW, the 521 car ran 133mph traps @ over 3400lbs.
Both of the other cars were tested in seperate dynos to back up the #s as well.

Hell all his talk of 450+ makes me wonder what my 12.2:1 347 will do. I think the ported 6.0L heads will be the limiting factor on my engine. It was built with the bottle in mind. 231/242 630/622 113 N02 cam and all. I am gonna give it a go on the bottle and see what it has. I will post both N/A and nitrous numbers. It is a 6 speed car to boot.
I just have to find out how the TFS 215 heads will work with the Lunati dome pistons I have.

We put down 530/480 with a set of box stock AFR 205s and a hydraulic G5xX cam, it backed it up at the track, 10.40 (vette) @ 140. Still the fastest NA 346, not the quickest.

How hard was this cam on the valve springs? How often would the valvesprings need to be changed? I am sure I would need to flycutt with this thing. I am looking to go as big as I can with the cam without needing to change the valvesprings frequently (I understand frequently can be loosly interpreted) and I need a cam I can drive on the weekends. I am looking for a wild ride, but not a huge pain in the ***, even my daily driver is dropped on very stiff springs and I drove around for 4 years in florida without a muffler on my car at all and no sound insulation/ carpet in the car.. so I'm ok with a wild ride. The car this setup would be going in is an rx7 with a race weight of about 2700lbs, with 4.10 gears. The goal for the car is 140mph traps.. so this caught my eye. Also, would etp 225s or tfs215s or afr 225s help produce evn more power with this combo? There seems to be some better choices out there now other than the 205s.
