Default '02 SS MS3 dyno results

I just got my car back from the dyno a couple of days ago and its running great after the tune! The blue run is through my e-cutout, the red is thru the Flowmaster CB, and the green is a baseline pull before any tuning on the dyno was done, w/ cutout closed. BTW go fast mods are MS3 cam, upgraded springs & pushrods, Pacesetter LTs & 3" ORY, Flowmaster CB, a 3" Raceready E-cutout. I was pretty suprised that I only gained 8 rwhp when my cutout was open! Does the torque seem kind of low, or is just me? Tell me what yall think of my numbers! --Justin

Those numbers look great. The torque is a little low, but i'm not sure why. The FAST intake and TB is expensive but it should net you some more ponies (and lb/ft) and of course there's heads as well. I wish I had those numbers man, i can't imagine what a cammed ls1 is like. I'm still a bolt on baby...

The torque number have more often been low with this cam than not, just the way it is. As long as it feels fast, I reckon thats all that matters.

Cam, cutout, full exhaust, spark plugs/wires, and motor mounts are all the performance mods I have done.

MS3s are notorious for low TQ numbers. Your HP is very stout though.

Yeah, typical MS3 numbers from what I've seen; strong hp and fairly weak on the toruqe. They're all like that for the most part. Nice.

Those numbers are typical my car is MS3 cam, Ported LS6 stage 2 heads, Ls6 intake and I made 430hp/400lbfts with a 4l60-e and a 3800 stall with a 12-bolt.

Thanks for the replies! It's kind of funny, even though the TQ seems a little low on the dyno sheet, my car feels like its going to rip the tires off the hub and will fishtail BAD if I punch it from a slight roll in 1st.

Yea, i second all those who said that that is just what the MS3 does. It's advertised as a high rpm cam and that lends itself to low torque numbers at a relatively high rpm. Give away some torque, get screaming top end horsepower...just the way it is.

Good graph, nice curves.
Look, for a stock compression motor, it is just too much cam. Bump the compression with a 90+ intake and it will shine.
Those size cams are not really the best choice for cam only applications, but add heads, bump compression SCR/DCR, and they will make awsome power.

Yeah, from what I've seen there are exceptions, but this is generally good advice.

The less of the story is compression makes horsepower, be it mechanical, forced induction, or a artifical atmosphere.

Instead of a 92mm intake and tb pickup some 5.3l heads. They are what i am running with my MS3 cam and they made a huge difference for low end power because of the smaller runner and added compression. The heads might be 100 dollars more but you will easily see more gains from heads then intake and tb. Your current LS6 intake will still flow well enough to make good numbers, just add the 92mm combo later. I dynoed 460rwhp on a dynojet with the LS6 intake and that H/C set up. Since then ive added a FAST intake combo and made the numbers you see in my sig.
