Default Cam-only numbers (Pat G 226/232)

Here is my set-up

stock bottom-end
unported/unpolished 98 heads (milled .020)
stock MLS gaskets
LS6 intake
hooker LT's/ORY through a dynomax bullet
SLP lid
Old dirty K&N filter
Pat G spec'd 224/230 comp cam
tr55 plugs
MSD wires

I told Pat G that I would expect this cam to net me atleast 400rwhp, his response was "I don't want you to get your hopes up too much for a 400 rwhp dyno number. This cam is a 50 rwhp cam. To exceed 400 rwhp with 98 heads will require a substantially bigger stick with a lot less street friendly manners. Of course, your small bump in compression will help some too."

Today the car went on the dyno for tuning. the pull was aborted a bit early due to an issue with the tranny leaking fluid. They said the car made 394@5800

Car goes back on the lift Monday to fix the problem (hopefully there is nothing damaged) and I am hoping to have the car back on the dyno next week.

I believe the fuel that is in there is about 8-9 months old. Does fuel breakdown after sitting for a bit?

Update 7/8/08: Graph is now up. Final grind on the cam came out to 224/230 on 111+1 LSA

I am going to get the car back on the dyno soon

Figured out how to change it to SAE correction.

Whats up Jarrod, havent talked to ya in awhile. Ever get to doing anythign to your car?

Its not bad, Pat G knows his stuff and I am glad I talked to him just days before the t-rex went in. I pulled the TH400 out of the car so its a street car again. I dont think I am really giving up anything to the T-rex and I am sure I will have way better low/mid end torque and power.

first, chris you are REALLY REALLY going to enjoy that car. second, 394 rwhp at only 5800 rpms shows me that the motor really makes power under the curve as well as it will peak at easily 6400 rpms and make over 400 rwhp for a broad range.

great combo. lets see what she makes overall. like i have always said, those big Trex style cams are great for selling hype. for a car like yours, that combo is sweet (and cheap and reliable!).

I thought about what you have said in the past and I decided to talk to Pat. Like I said, I dont think I will be giving up much (if any0 to the t-rex up high... maybe just carrying out the rpms but i will be shifting no further then 6800rpms (have to wait until I see a graph before I decide that) I believe Jeremy said it was at 240rwhp/375 ft.lbs@3500 (I cant exactly remember), but if that is correct, this thing is making very-very nice power under curve and should very enjoyable.

when you get a good graph, post it. 375 rwtq at 3500 rpms is showing great cylinder fill and compression. great street car cam.

my cam that is going in my 347 is not big either, for the same reasons.

Didn't do them, he said he didn't want to get into doing exhuast work at this moment so all I have is the hookers into my ory with a dynomax bullet dumped before the axle. I want to find a stock cat-back or a dual/dual to put on teh car and put a cut-out on as well. This way I can have it quiet when needed.

I was researching graphs and I am not seeing very many cam-only cars hitting the numbers I listed above at specified RPM's so I am eager to see what the car does and see a graph. From te sounds of it, I am going to be very happy.. just cant wait to have the car again.

my money will be securely in my pocket i dont have faith in you. but **** if you had an aluminum flywheel that car would be a dyno queen. its already going thru that itty bitty rear and t56. and i bet them rear meats dont have a whole lot of rolling resistance either

maybe I should put an aluminum flywheel in there then... we all know how much these LS7 set-up's weigh... plus you already said it your self, let me know when you want to meet up at J&J....

Just messing bro. I dont really care to put it on their dyno just to show you that it will or wont break a certain number. If you would like to cover the dyno fee, then I will gladly put it on there... your call.

Nice #'s...I have a 229-233 .571 .578 on 114+2 going in with my stock 98 heads that have been milled .040 with MLS Gaskets

I would love to pull anywhere from 385-400RWHP and 380+RWTQ through my locked Vig 3600. I should have Dyno #s next Saturday

But this was ground specificly for my nitrous combination on my stock shortblock so I'm not sweating the N/A dyno #'s... It should be a monster on the 150-200 RWHP hit and another 225-250RWTQ through my nitrous dedicated fuel system(C16 F T W)

What LSA and how much advance did you order it with?

With those MLS gaskets on the 98 heads did you weld the little notch in the heads to keep the MLS gaskets sealing?
