I will look into the torque peak on the 228R, I sure didnt think it was near that low

Did you install it with the double roller chain? I'm worried about the cam location & how it was setup.

I installed it with a double roller timing set. Set it up with no advance or retard since I knew I would be at the edge with PV clearance. I am not sure what is up. I should have some pics of the timing set on the car before I bolted it up. I will get those pics up after class tonight. The part that really concerns me is between 2500 and 4000, just isn't looking right.
Gomer, you hit what my friend and I are leaning to. It just might be a conservative dyno.

Has anyone else noticed other than his low torque peak that his 228 cam (good sized)leveling off at 5800 and is making peak power at 6k. Something seems to be holding the car back. But according to your power increase, the heads and bigger cam did their job (+40hp). What is your new compression ratio with the heads?

Here are some install pics I took. This is how I did it.
Set the dot on the cam gear @ 6 oclock, crank gear was at 12 oclock
Put it into 4th gear, removed both gears.
Installed crank gear with dot @ 12 oclock, swapped cam, cam gear @ 6 oclock.

I am running about 10.8:1 CR. Milled .005 to fit w/o flycutting.

try the dyno you origanaly dynoed on with the hot cam, also do a pull with the mufflers off to see if there holing you back some, if you pick up 25 hp from the mufflers then there no good, but if you get 5-6 then they are good. If the numbers are still down then you look into reflowig the heads to find a better cam to match

Keith: Your install look's like you did it perfect...I can't see the lower dot on the crank gear..but im assuming it's the one in line with the cam gear (or u better hope so! lol) i wonder what the heck is going on...norris's dyno is semi conservative..but not too bad...for further refrence..cam only on that dyno i made 358 RWHP with the hot cam only through the a4 wich is exactly what you did i beleive? But you did have an ls6 intake and I did not...maybe yours isnt a dyno queen man..who cares lol i ran 11.60's all day long with 358 rear wheel cam only..but it is just always nice to break the 400 mark I am going back to the track soon to get some number's...but be happy man lol I only picked up 19 rear wheel by going from stock heads to TEA S2 5.3's AND a bigger cam!i need an LS6 manifold Good luck to you though man..lemme know if u need anything.

i agree on norris being slightly on the conservative side

i only pulled 367 with my mods (bolt ons and a 224/581/112) which i thought was kinda conservative.

i will be getting the car tuned there after i put on the patriot heads i will be ordering shortly so i will be able to post exact gains from the heads

Keith
I have been searching around for some posts that refernce Norris' dyno. I haven't found any big numbers from his dyno yet (there may be some), he just may have a real conservative dyno. Has he ever had a stock cube car dyno over 420rwhp down there? I would think that the other car you were talking about with the MMS cam and heads would have been well over 400rwhp too.
I have a cam similar to the Hotcam, but I made right around 400 on Norris' dyno. Vince made (I think) 410-ish on it with his F9 cam. I haven't had the car to a different dyno in awhile. Th AFR varies from 12.8 <-> 13.1. The dyno is here: http://images.cardomain.com/member_i.../317202_36.gif.

I've actually been hunting for a new cam because 400 doesn't seem special anymore.

Are your CNCed heads the heads that Mike uses in his packages?

HeritageLS1, I also live in the Orlando area. My Firehawk is at Mid-Florida Motorsports in Oviedo where it is getting a TSP 228R Comp Cam, Patriot Performance S2 heads, double roller timing set, and Pace Setter longtubes and ORY installed. I have plans to tune it at Norris within 2 or 3 weeks to see what my setup pulls. I would like to keep in touch to hear your progress, especially since I will have the TSP 228R/PP S2 head combo. I will post back my feedback here when I get to it.

Yeah, but they were cut back in the summer of 1999. Either ahead of their time or not state of the art...take your pick. The flow drops off after ~.550, according to others who have taken the heads off and flowed them.

I heard all about what happened with your car, my friend Chris is doing the motor for ya. It sucks, but look at what you will have. He probably has told you about me sometime. Chris hit me up today with something for me to check on my heads when I get the chance, cause he saw it when he was doing yours. I should see you around sometime out there.

I had a funny feeling you knew him, your name was mentioned a couple times. I'm sure you will get your car up to spec after you get things figured out. I'm curious as to what Chris found as you mentioned. I'll be up at the shop this Friday to drop off NGK TR6s and AMSOIL Synthetic for the hawk and talk with Chris about the heads.

Dont worry about dyno numbers your car sounds like it will run great. You should come out to Moroso on the 7th of next month. There will be a bit of F-Bodys out there

I dynoed a car at Norris' about an hour before Keith "Heritage" that I've done some work to. Here's the specs and results

2000 WS6 M6 3.42 10 bolt
MMS stage 2s milled .040 TR 224, Jet Hot LT with off road pipe and open QTP cutout
LS6 intake, ported throttle body

LS1 edit tuned to a 12.5-13.0 on the wideband

391WHP 375WTQ

I thought this car would have been well into the 400 HP range, but I guess not on that dyno, on that day.

William- You'll want to get your car over there ASAP because your car will slam into the rpm limiter with the factory program. I'm curious what your car puts down on that same dyno since your combination is so similar to Keiths.

Chris, is there any chance I can get you out to Norris's next weekend to get the computer tweaked with LS1 Edit? BTW, I noticed that I had to put 1 quart of Amsoil 5w30 in already. I'll check it again next week.

No new updates to speak of. Just that my stock rockers were hitting the retainers when I dynoed. Even after I clearanced them, a few still hit. I now have 1.7 yella terras on. Other than that, it still probably isn't over 400RWHP. I ran a cylinder balance test in ELive6 before I would do a leak down test. Here is what I got, from weakest to strongest:
cylinder/RPM
2 / 931
7 / 931
6 / 930
3 / 925
1 / 921
4 / 919
5 / 919
8 / 919
