Pretty much. The LS6 block has some improvements to make it more efficient but not enough to see a difference on a dyno or at the track I don't think.

Congratulations - I don't think anyone is arguing that here. The OP (from 2 years ago) was just wanting to see different numbers from people that had done an LS6 swap including whatever mods they had done.

Thanks. But my point is why do an entire motor swap when you can just get heads, and a more agressive, yet still streetable cam.

I'm not sure why you are in a bad mood, I posted my results with what I had. I wasn't the one who brought this thread back....

Maybe look at the head casting number under the hood, if it says 243 then they are ls6 heads.

No bad mood here - just stating fact. It's hard to interpret someone's tone on a message board.

True but no camaro came with LS6 heads (just the block).

How about you show us a 4th gen F-body that came with 243 (LS6) heads from the factory? I'll eat my words if so o/w you're the one that's spreading false information.

I have never seen a 98-02 car with 243 heads, only read about it....

It doesn't matter anyway, they are so cheap and easy to get a hold of that anyone can do a nice ls6 conversion.

RED99TA....what kind of hp #'s and track times are you getting for those afr's? Is your car still a 346 cu.in.?

stock bottom-end and dynoed 445/402 with an LS6 intake/TB and 24 deg timing. Now running ported 90/90 setup with 26 deg timing (fixed some detonation issues) and will dyno again this summer. Only track time I have is 11.94 @ 121.4 with a slipping clutch. I didn't even do a burnout before that run for fear of heating up the clutch even worse hence the crappy time. I'm actually in the middle of a McLeod twin disk install now so track times to come this summer/fall after the clutch is broken in.

I can make one custom for your swap/car if you need.

I was trying to get a basic tune sent to me, spend the $100 to licence with HP tuners and modify it myself.

I just need the file, I don't want $200 in a tune I can't change.

Why can't you change it?

I can get you setup if you'd like, but as with any work, it's not free.

The way I understand it is, I pay you the price to load the tune into the ecm, then pay another $100 to HP tuners for a credit to be able to change it later.

I am looking to get the file, load it, pay for the credit and change it as needed.

Lots of posts here, but still not many are answering the question that the original OP was asking. I too have an LS6 crate in my 02, but have never dyno'd. I would also like too know what other's put down to the ground.

Wow I can't believe I just noticed this thread. I have a ls6 swap since 2002. Just got done retuning with a fast 90 and 85 mm slp maf. Now keep in mind I've been tinkering with this thing for years. It now has all bolt-on and tuned with 42lb injecters.

Final #'s 426 rwhp! for a full bolt-on stock crate ls6 with 80,000 k on it. We ran it to 7000rpm because the power just stayed flat. This thing is nasty, the fast really made it pull up top. I forget what exactly tq was, he's suppose to email me a graph as his printer was out.
I have been on several dyno's over the years and no this one is not happy. Started out @ 399 w/o a tune, tune took it to 403, more break-in and bigger injecters went to 407, header change to kooks+3" y, ecw, ported ls6 intake went 413.......and now the fast and another injecter change and some fine tuning 426rwhp! Not bad for a engine rated @ 405 hp

I have a graph of the 413rwhp before the ported fast 90. His printer was down. Not to hard to beleive it picked up 13rwhp with a ported fast is it?

Nice, do you remember what kind of power it put down stock prior to any mods??
