Default Age old debate - C5 vs. F-body rwhp (stock)

If any of you guys are just bored and want to chime, BUT REPLY HERE, if you would. That thread on the bimmerforums is already hijacked enough.

Maybe I'm wrong or just nuts, but I'm fairly certain that the F-body LS1's put down that same numbers as the C5's stock for stock and the two engine are nearly identical except for negligible cam specs differences due to the C5 not having EGR. This should be old news to all you guys here.

Ok so set me straight if I'm wrong. See link below.

They both Dyno the same, somewhere on here there is a post from Motor Trend where they dynoed a 98 vette, 98 TA, and Z28 all M6s. the fbodies actually put down a few more ponies than the vette. Probably due to the live axle instead of IRS.

Funny seeing people who have no idea chime in on that bimmerforums link.

Eactly, I've seen F-bods put down a few more rwhp due to the vettes IRS also.

It'd be great to see that article. Some people won't listen to reason or logic.

C5 actually have alot more to the wheels due to a hybrid mechanical compound turbocharging system hidden in the sump. Where do you think they got 40 extra hp from? It is covert government secret so all I can say is " allegedly".

That's funny ...Had to wait a few seconds before swallowing my coffee, so it wouldn't end up spit out onto my desk.

Anyone who's done 5 seconds of research knows that the Vettes make no more power than the fbodies due to the fbodies being underrated. I wouldn't even waste my time arguing with someone (especially someone who doesn't own either car) who refuses to acknowledge the truth out of some kind of forced ignorance.

The Vette is lighter. and the 02 to 04 vettes use a the LS6 block and Intake. That makes a difference.

I think he was just talking about the regular vette having the ls6 block. Hell some F-bodies had them in 2002 as well. The F-body should lay down more due to the rear end. I think the c5s are geared higher too no?

YES the O2 to 04 normal vettes have the LS6 Block and LS6 Intakes as well. Still had the 241 heads. Not the 243 heads in the Z06.

Yes there is a difference between the LS1 and LS6 blocks, not hp wise just structurally.

The LS6 Intake on the 02-04 vettes is a far better performance the the LS1 intake. 25-30 hp by some standards.

and as some one mentioned the Rev limiter is higher on the vette.

So yes there is quite a bit of difference stock f-body to stock corvette.

The stock vette uses the MN6 manual transmission, the Z06 used the MN12. The MN12 had better launch gears lower fist and second gear.

all the rear gears were 3.42s on the manuals

I raced a C5 with a 40-50 year old male driving and he only pulled a half car on me, i thought he would get me more, i have a catback, his sounded like he might have had a catback too, it wasnt a Z06 for sure. With a better driver in his car im sure he would have beat me more, although i hit rev limiter in 1st due to spinning on cold *** roads.... bad idea but hey i wanted a little more action before i put my car away, it was so worth the scary spinning with my crap kumho's.....

I agree Fbody has more to the wheels as seen when i raced the older male.

You do know that all 01+ F-bodies also had the LS6 intake right? You know they also had the 241 heads, right?

And you know the LS6 block means exactly ZERO as far as performance is concerned, right?

Unless it was a Z06, there was ZERO difference between a C5 LS1 and a F-Body LS1
