So it basically comes down to traction. You can have all the mods in the world but if you can't get it to hook it doesn't matter. I am going to be getting a stall, cam and gears this winter, so I hope I can get the results you guys have gotten.

Gears really don't make a **** of difference. I have 3.23s, and though I do have a LS6 intake, I don't have headers. You should get a ram air kit if you don't have one already. That and an LS6 intake shuld put you at 112+.

They don't? Then how do you explain my times with just gears? I picked up 3mph with the addition of 3.73's.

There's probably more to that 3 mph than you think. I mean, you can gain 3 mph from just having better weather.

Gears optimize (or get closer to optimal) rpm/speed ratios. To just say that gears will net you "x" gain is stupid, because there are plenty of cases where gears gain nothing even some where gears make times worse (mostly due to spinning). Not to say that it doesn't happen, I'm sure there are cases where the gains are more. Just depends on the car and the current gearing.

On my bike, going from a 2.66:1 to a 3:1 picked up .3 and 5 mph. Though turning 13,500 rpm on a tiny 4 cylinder makes better use of gearing.
