I never raced my 97 talon at the track yet. But have raced buddy with 2001 Z28 with lid, maf, long tubes ,catback.

When breaking in my 97 talon at around 15psi on my basically GT35r and built 2.4 and keeping my rpm down to 5000 or so was pretty much even with him in some roll runs. Again boost is pretty meaningless without knowing what turbo is being run. My combo likely was putting out around 450 engine hp at 15psi.But as said was not taking it to redline or going full throttle do to new engine.I think he was dynoing around 360rwhp with his mods.

I ran him again from a dig at about 25psi guesstimate 500 or so engine hp and it was not a race anymore.I ate him off the line and he didn't have chance to run me down.I was on street tires only but car is awd and can get amazing 60fts. Turbo is big and would have some lag especially off the line but have stutterbox/two step and that helps a lot.
Also no lift to shift to keep things spooled up.

Good news! We met up tonight and I took him two times in a row. First race was a 20 roll and we went to about 115 and I had about 3 cars on him. Next race was a 30 roll and to 115 and I had about 4 cars on him. I am super pumped, I really thought he was going to eat me up! There was no point in time where he pulled in the least bit.

Nice kill! Looks like we were all wrong. Any excuses from him?

Well remember you can win one day and lose the next if he ups the boost and puts in some race gas or makes some up with xylene or toluene found at just about any paint store.
He should still have another 50 or so hp left in his combo.

Also you should have run a couple or dig races as that is his main advantage. To not let the awd do its miracles off the line is like tying a hand behind your back in a fight.
Off the line he can build boost from a roll in lower gears not near as good.

He would likely have done better at say 50mph roll on when he could have geared down to spool up his turbo quicker.
Nonetheless you beat him under the terms you both agreed on so good kill.

No excuses from him, he was pretty surprised at the outcome as he had taken down other ls1's without a problem. He said his boost was maxing out at 23psi and he was giving it all he had. We pulled over and his headers were glowing red after a few runs. It was some good racing but I really thought i was going to be really close. I pulled on him pretty decent.
