What ricers should I be aware of when taking on a street race?

I rev up to 3K, let the clutch out quickly(don't drop it) and roll into the gas as hard as I can. that's on street tires too.

Furd and GM are completely different companies scarecrow.
I owned an auto ta for 2 years, used to shift like that so I know how it works on them.
As for the rev limiter, i have never tried it on my own, but the bent pushrods buddy of mine tells me there isn't a rev limiter. Who knows tho, something could've been broken on his car, or the previous owner couldve edit'd the rev limiter maybe.
As far as I know though, that's how it works.
Plus, even if it shifted your way, you could only be shifting before the computer wouldve shifted, or shifting after and risking engine damage. (obviously if you shift at the same rpm, there is no point to shifting like that).

I know a couple imports to watch out for. One's been mentioned several times before: WRX Sti. There's a modded to the gills one in NW Indiana, and, as can be expected, it's not all riced out. 450 HP to the ground, and a driver familiar with LSx cars (he also owns a Nitroused Firehawk).
The other import that hasn't been mentioned doesn't quite fit the normal ricer mold (so please don't flame me for mentioning it). But, I have seen cars of the make mangled by a "ricer vision." A buddy owns an early Audi RS6 (factory stock AWD twin turbo V8). It doesn't scream speed like Porsches or M5's, but it will easily knock off most stock cars in the area. He previously had an S4, which also was no slouch in a race. Big cubes would still beat it though.
Another buddy has a wickedly modified VW Rabbit rust bucket. The car is turd brown, and looks just horrible. It also sounds like a hive of angry hornets and has a roll cage. He regularly raced it at Gingerman, and usually came in the top five (don't think he races it anymore).
Again, all relatively conservative looking imports.

You don't worry about rice at all. Rice means they do nothing but look fast. Beware of the ones that GO fast. They're alot harder to spot.
From what I hear WRX's can be quick I just haven't seen one while I have been in my T/A. I have waxed two of them with nothing more than a lid and cutout.Raced one of them 100% stock and beat him handily (got video if anyone can reccommend a good hosting service)
I haven't seen a single "slow" turbo Supra.But most people I run into can't drive worth a ****.
Seeing a Skyline in my area would be like the second coming of Jesus so that's not a problem
3000GT VR4 is about 800lbs overweight so no concern there.
There is one BAD *** Starion with a turbo buick motor in this area that is not to be toyed with
I once saw a high 12 second white Nissan with a body-kit that makes it hard to tell what it is.It was real boxy and had a 4cylinder if that helps.Never would have thought this one could move out.
The Evolution I saw at the strip ran 14.0 which got beat by a Mustang MACH1 so that's a non-concern.
I have only seen two RX7's race in real life and one of them broke. 50/50 is not a good reliability ratio in my book.
these are just my experiences. That doesn't mean they apply everywhere....

Dynamic racing has a good video of a lightly modded Stealth TT 13G car [Basically a VR4] destroying a Firebird The Stealth had just driven from New Mexico to Houston and was still full of luggage.

I have raced one BIG turbo Supra with my Shelby and it was closer than I would have liked but I did win. I have raced a couple of EVOs and win properly setup they can be killers. Watch out for GTRs they are impressive even stock and when moodded can be crazy. They gotten GTRs in the high 10s with just a ECU reflash.
