Default 98 TransAm vs 02 TransAm

I just picked up a 98 TransAm with mods in sig but Im gonna get a custom tune this week to correct the speedo for 3.73's and new exhaust. A friend has a pretty quick 02 TransAm with lid, shift kit, dumped bullet, ported TB, free mods and mail order tune. Anyone think I can take him being that I have 3.73's and a full custom tune? The only differences between us are the LS6 intake, gears (he has 3.23's), stock y-pipe vs my 3" ORY, and I guess the 241 heads vs my 806's. Would it be a good race or does the head/LS6 intake make that much of a difference to where he'll just walk me?

IDK, I've been told I'd get smoked....who knows!

BTW- I'm bored here at work so this post is killing time LOL!!!!

i think you guys will be pretty damn close. it seems like both your mods cancel each other out. although in my personal experience mail order tune suck ***. i have had a mail order tune and then went to a dyno to get tuned and found the mail order to be severely lacking. to the tune of picking up 35 hp over the mail tune. so i am now thinking you will take him

Well, I was hoping the mods cancelled each other out too. My friends tune is a generic base tune that a local speed shop does for real cheap.

^^^^ yeah those tunes are better than nothing, and safer than nothing, but like i said, i had one just to get to the dyno shop, thats 1.5 hours away, and when he got me on the dyno and got a nice tune on it i had picked up 35 hp to the wheels over the mail order tune, so with a real dyno tune and your better exhaust, and gears, you will take him, the 241 heads dont flow anymore than the 806's i dont think, if they do its minimal. so all he has over you is the ls6 intake and thats like 15hp tops. and your exhaust should do that for you.
