let me guess, you have an auto? and all that anger comes from who knows where.
and you are the 9 sec champ on the street it must seem to be calling everyone slow.
it isnt about breaking something, you can go to a 1/4 track and do digs all day if you want. for some people running from a roll is a sensation you cant find at any track.

Anger? You read way too much into a forum thread. Why would I be angered that you think a rolling start is a better performance comparison. If anything, I find it silly. It indicates you are naive.
4000+lbs Blown 500HP M6 3.73 on street tires means I spin forever on a dig. I rarely get the jump. My ratio of roll to dig races is probably 20 to 1. I pick up an impromptu roll race at least twice a month during my commute. Typically ~50 to ~110mph.
My experience is road racing, not drag racing. Given all this I'd be the first to say a dig is a better indicator of a cars (and drivers) performance than a roll. Read the OP's question. The only exception would be a rolling start on a closed circuit road course. But were not talking RR here.

I hate hearing that lame *** excuse time and time again. So, basically what you are saying is a manual tranny turns into an auto, because a shift can't be botched on a roll.....and shifts points have nothing to do with roll racing. yep...lame.

No. But racing from a roll is 100X more accurate in telling you which car is actually faster then racing from a dig...

I didn't say I don't dig but I drive around on CCW's with BFG's. They will wheel hop pretty bad. Wheel hop = broken parts. At the track Nitto's on stock rims. Reduces chances of wheel hop.

No. But racing from a roll is 100X more accurate in telling you which car is actually faster then racing from a dig...

Seriously?what makes you think that?.....ok for instance ive got a stalled auto car with 4.11s and a th-350 trans.that gives me three gears.so we roll race and i start out in second gear,shift into third,and by 6,000rpm im topped out at about 110mph.so i let out of it well then here comes joe blow flying by from 3 or 4 cars behind in his 5 speed or 6 speed car after we,ve done ran damn near 1/2 a mile probly then he starts bitching saying i let out of it early.cause dont say some of you on here wouldnt be bitching about it cause to all of you who roll race agree that "roll racing shows who has the faster car"

Setting up a roll race = rice. DRAG race is from a stop flip on ESPN have a look at the NHRA broadcast. They will show 2 cars racing from a stop. If you dont like that then flip on ESPN2 chances are you can watch NASCAR where everyone races from a roll. I dont see many guys on here posting vids of their cars competing in NASCAR events. But to each his own have fun,be safe, and make sure you dont leave before the third honk . . . .

Rolls are simply for when you cant setup a dig..

so because your street car lacks a proper trans with gears and a clutch pedal everyone should find a race that benefits you
so your saying the way i built my car ist the proper setup?last time i checked 3 speed automatics where pretty normal thing to see drag racing.actually there kinda popular.hell most ppl run old 2 speed glides just as much.if you even know what that is.and your saying if we raced from a dig and i somked your *** outta the hole all the way until my car has hit its top speed and let out about the time your car was just pulling good that my **** is inferior?i must have called your game with my last post.do you drive a honda?is there something you need to tell everone
My car is set up to drag race like real men do.To come out of the whole hard as i can get to and reach its top speed in the length that is commonly raced (1/4 mile or 1/8 mile) and is excepted as the test of proving whos car is faster by which can get to the finish line before the other.After a 1/4 mile it is done.Whoevers car passes the finish first has the faster car.

From a dig and I have a manual. So I don't want to hear all this crap about, its too hard to get a good launch. Man up an learn how to drive. I am not against roll racing if the situation doesn't allow for a dig but its damn sure not my first choice.

I want you guys opinon on this.cause i was told the other night by a guy i know thats all about some hondas (cause domestic cars suck in his and his honda friends opinons.this is also after i had just got done racing his buddys gutted out k20 hatch in my nova beating it by about a bus length and then some) that racing from a dig or actually "drag racing" like at the track dosent count when a domestic car beats the hell out of a import.so they informed me that me beating his car wasnt a real race.what do yall think about this?is racing from a roll more of a race or going from a dig more of a race?k20 hatches are supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.his car had never been beat from waht they said.
NOw if I have a civic, or anyother Neon, bla bla bla, I'd be voting rol, cause I know my car sucks!!!
I have to to a run with a neon srt-4 with a ported blower, he wanted nothing less then a 70 roll...LOL? anyway I still mopped him by several cars. I started in 2nd(my auto at 6'000 rpm..) hit the gas then quickly clicked the shifter into drive, keeped it pinned to 130 and he was only seen in my rear veiw mirror.
Ask these dueches what kinda roll then need, maybe give them a 10,20 or 30 roll, but if they want something more then a 40, I'd just laugh and ask if they know anyone else who isn't afraid to do a dig run..
When I come across these people I try to be polite but a smartass at the same time. I tell most of the cobras I run ,who want a 40 roll, that I have 1st gear and I'd kinda like to use it, or I ask isn't your car rwd? Oh and you have MT tires on? Most of the time they have widder tires then me.
