I wouldn't be quite so confident. I have owned (2) 300ZX TT's and the slower of the 2 (which was only "lightly modified") ran mid-high 12s all day long. A stock TT is definitely NOT a 14 sec car (unless the person can't drive). Not saying you wont beat him, but don't take it for granted.
OP, if you're not racing for money then who cares. I would hope your coach doesn't want to race one of his students for money anyways. Just have fun and be safe, aka make sure no other cars are around. Post up the results, as you can tell this is a pretty interesting match-up.

Stock 300ZX TTs make 300HP weigh about 3480lbs and run high 13s at around 103MPH. Stock vs. stock an LS1 fbody will beat one anywhere. Once the 300ZX is modded its anyones game, they respond very well to mods can can see 100+HP gains from just intake/exhaust/tune. Its not uncommon to see them break into the 11s on stock turbos...their essentially just one tick below a TT Supra.

my lil brother has a 90 300zxtt with full exhaust mail order tune and upped the boost alittle he is an auto though my mods at the time were lid filter and i had either my 3.42's or 2.73's at the time (been awhile since the race). i took him by a good 3-4 cars even with me loosing traction off the line so im guessin fro a dig you should take him

Not saying you are lying, but do you have any links to back those statements?

I have only seen 1 run at the track. It was lightly modded if I remember correctly. I believe he was running mid/low 14s @ 100mph. Could have needed the driver mod though who knows.

I can't believe that because I have seen an exhaust/intake/tune and more boost ZX be neck and neck with a bolt on fbody with stock gearing. I also thought that they were more around the 3650 mark on weight, could be wrong about that though.

And heres a dyno of one with intake/exhaust/tune showing what most will make with basic bolt ons:

For the record a few people have broken into the high 10s/low 11s on stock turbos making close to 500WHP with full bolt ons and tune with untouched heads/bottom ends.

hahaha, same here.
but i know a bit about the z. it will be close but you`ll win, if he is 100% stock, the z`s are very cheap to mod. if he put only say 1k into, he`ll rape you, intake, exhaust and a boost controller, he can easily be at 320whp.
id tell him its dig or nothing, cause on a roll, the manual has the upper hand.
TAPE IT!!!! and stop being a wuss hahaa

My best time in one is 13.8 at 102 MPH stock. Back in the day I saw one with my old eyes gain 17 at the wheels just getting rid of the cats. For a long time you never saw fast ones because you couldn't get any injectors larger than 550ccs for them. The bottom end of those cars are quite strong. Only bad thing is the brakes-too small. Oh yea working on one is even worse than a LT1 F body in terms of room
Weird this one you are going to race has such huge injectors. Fastest stock turbo Z I ever saw ran mid 12s at 116MPH. They can be tuff on a roll
Good luck. Kick his as
