lets just say in my old 04 GT i had FULL boltons/auto. 4.10's, cai, throttle bodyplenum, tune. and my buddy's LT1 beat it. I got rid of that damn car lol.

what did your "buddy's" lt1 have done?

my buddy also had a 6spd lt1 and when my 04 gt was stock we would be dead even most of the time. he would pull maybe a half car from higher roll races and i would pull about half a car from lower rolls...then with 4.10/x pipe it was an easy win for me

edit-the "AUTO" part could have a bit to do with it

A stock 1999 GT hardtop will run a 5.5 sec. 0-60mph and 14.1 quarter mile stock according to several stock quarter mile charts. They also say 1995 Pontiac Trans Am 5.6 0-60 and 14.0 quarter. A bolt on and geared LT1 takes the race.

Its a term we use on the military (Ex US Army 11*B Airborne) and bodybuilding forum I am a member of so its habit. And its no different then any other slang term and I did live in Hawaii for a while so it kind of stuck on me. I know people who say "Hole Shot" after every other sentence We are only human after all and no one is perfect

Yeah, I told the middle man or Woman in this case to let him know Ill race for cash. He knows about my exhaust mods, but I am sure has no clue as to my rear end set up. In fact I am pretty sure gearing is not even on his mind as far as his future mods go. At any rate I am waiting to hear back, I am waiting for the weather to hit 50. Then the race is on I will have someone recording video

I know for a fact its not a Cobra or Saleen. I would wait until all my summer mods are complete before I would race a either. I mean, this kid is the type of person who thinks HID's are a mod. Oh...I forgot...haha It has lambo doors

there is a good chance his big mods will be shorty headers, flowmaster mufflers, a tb spacer and a hypertech tuner. I say he does not beat you now and he will not beat you in the future.

I have owned a cobra, then I rode in an LS1...I now drive an LS1. Didn't even take me a year to get rid of my slobra. I'm with ya on this one.

Yeah.. the LT1 and the 2v are pretty much even stock. Since he has mods however, he will take him.

Yup, that's about right for the average person. The fastest I've heard of was 13.6/7. I myself got a 13.9 with a stock 2v. And that's not rare with people that can drive them.

I am betting this kid isn't one of those people however. He'd be lucky with a vert, and probably auto to get 14.5s. If it's stock.

Ran into him hat subway yesterday. 37 out and he had his convertible top down. I was in the truck but glanced inside his car. "Auto" Only mod I think he has is a CAI. Its a done deal, After he stood in line and didnt say one word to me as he was leaving I said.

ME: "You still want to race?"
Him: "Ummm...yeah when it gets warmer out"
ME: "Must be pretty warm now for you to be rolling with your top down."


He just muttered "Kinda" and walked out the door.

I'd throw a sneaky pete in there on a switch for the just in case. I raced a built Eclipse once and the guy had me all the way to the 1/8th mile then I hit the button. Passed him and won the race. It was just for bragging rights. After the race we were all standing talking.. Fbody guys and some Eclipse owners. The guys I raced said "Man those LS1's really pull on the big end!". I said they sure do. Especialy when you spray them. You sprayed on me? He asks. Yes. Why would you do that? Because I didn't want to lose to an Eclipse. I asked the group of guys I was with "Do you blame me?". Everyone looked at each other and said NO. We all laughed about it. The Eclipse guy was laughing also. I told him he won if I didn't spray and that he had a nice car. Good guy.

That's what racing should be. None of this cocky your car sucks BS. If you beat him take the high road and be a gracious winner.
