Trying to get this race setup with my buddy who just picked up a 2010 Shelby GT500 mustang...

This is what his car looks like:



Looks like these things run mid-low 12s and have 540HP....

Even after reading a few articles about the GT500, I'm still not sure how it would fare against my Firehawk from a roll... My mods are in my signature...

I'm not sure but I'd lean towards the GT500, the 2010s are dynoing quite a bit higher than the previous models from what I understand. The power numbers advertised are actually underrated from what I have read. That car should have nearly 100 more rwhp and torque.

Once he starts modding that car will be a beast.

Since he just bought the car i would put my money on you, i would imagine the 10' Gt500 is pretty tricky to learn how to launch and drive it to its full potential. Just my two cents

the gt500 traps about 117 if ur an cammed m6 should be atleast that 117-120 should be a good match up unless ur a a4 then its goodbye

I ran a guys 2009 gt500 from a 20 roll outside of town on a black top and put about 1 car on him by 130 lol, those things even in stock form are no joke. Of corse I did race an ls3 corvette and barely pulled a car on it by 100 so idk

id race him from a stop. those things have too much power to race from a roll. i like your chances in the 1/4 though. you wont trap higher but you should ET similarly due to your weight advantage.

Race him from a dig. He's still new to the car and on street tires. From a roll...depending if he starts in the right gear or winds those gear outs...it can be brutal for you. No shame in losing, but good bragging rights if you pull on him. I would just go into to this race with a 50/50 mentality. A lot if dependant on how good your friend can drive.

OP, You should be able to edge him out from a dig but from a roll I'd have to go with the GT500.
