Yeah the Mach1 is a better over all comparison. I still believe Ford made the GT50 to compete with the Vette and Viper. Because before then, they had nothing in the same class.

No doubt... Kind of hard with that price tag though.
Hard to really compete with the Vette (Zo6/Zr1) for the price tag. Not many companies even come close when looking at price. It is kind of a class of its own really.

But! When comparing "super cars" and "exotics", price can't really be discussed.

Got pulled over drag racing I had a 94 5.0 with a pro charger raced a lt1 camaro killed him was a 35 mph road passed a cop doin about 80 camaro ran I stop I got aticket for squealing my tires. The camaro lost got caught and went t0 jail. The cop said if you want to fight it I have this on camara .I so wanted a copy of that tape. Ticket was 175. Just stop he was cool and hated chevylol.

My buddy ran one not in a ls1 in his o3 cobra he's got a really fast car the 5.0 had no chance.It sure was a nice car though. Those 03s there just sick,I love my ss but but damn that thing eats up everything

03/04s could be had new for less than an f-body! While thats marginal, a fully optioned T/A was as much as an 03/04!

Every time you have to bust out the 2 seat car thats a 500 pounds lighter with an 1.5 times the MSRP. And you guys bitched about top gears comparison with the 5th gen lol

I have already posted up MSRP for all 3 cars in discussion.

1.5 times the MSRP? Did you fail math? A "base" 03/4 is 10K more than a base fbody. A "base" C5Z is 10k more than a Cobra. How is it unfair to put the Z up against the Cobra because of price but ok to put the Cobra up against the fbody?
Who bitched about what? There are a lot of people on these boards with many different thoughts on things, don't lump us all into "you guys". I am not like the majority of the people on this site, I try to view things with an open mind set.



Side note- Just thought of another one.. Both the Cobra and the Z have IRS.
Knew there was a reason I like you better than some of the other guys around here.

Meh I fail at math you fail at reading. I said a fully loaded f-body is as much as an 03/04. Pretty fair considering there were only 2 options for the 03/04 so they were basically "loaded" to begin with.

Instead of 1.5 we'll call it 1.33

And I dont think IRS has anything to do with this.

Those cars are only really close in speed. This is why Ford itself claimed it was made.

While in production, SVT had codenamed this model the "Terminator" since it was supposed to finally put an end to any competition between the Cobra and the Trans Am / Camaro

It being close to the speed of the Z06 was only a plus.

If Ford put out the Termi to compete with the Z06.. they did a HORRIBLE job.


Yes, yes it was. Also look at the prices for low mileage well kept LS1 Fbodies. Especially the T/A against low mileage well kept Cobras. They are going for about the same price.

I was talking MSRP dono what Kevin is talking about; 03/04s have held their value much better(in general compared to ls1 f-bodies) and are just now starting to drop w/ the introduction of the 5.0.

Back in 2002 the LS1 fbodies a lot of the times were being sold OVER MSRP. Most were being sold for 28 to 32k. It was a supply and demand thing.
They've actually held pretty much equal up until 2010. Supply and demand. You couldn't buy a new Camaro. So those that were still around, that had low miledge sold for almost as if it was a new car.
