So me and a friend are having a debate, he says his aunts boyfriends C5 will destroy my Cobra. Problem with this is he will not race me, so can someone in central Alabama step up so I can finally prove to him what car is faster.

Would like for the vette to have similar mods as to his aunts BF.... k&n filter and catback.

There's been a few C5 Z06 callouts when the Cobras first came out: even saw one resurrected a month ago. Turns out they are very evenly matched, with the Z pulling over 100mph and off the dig, but the Terminator owning the middle ground. Pretty evenly matched though- if both are stock that is.

Is your car stock? All the way stock? If so, the vette with it's minimal mods just might give you a slow walk IF he can drive well.

 

Nearly the same horsepower put down on the dyno for both, but the Cobra weighs a good 400 pounds more...

if ur stock hes gonna get u easy. that one vid of the guy with a stock c5z vs 450whp cobra the cobra only got him by 1.5cars

 

btw this is the wrong section anyway lol. its pretty bad when stock for stock a ls1 ss is door to door with the terminator, so you should know a z06 is gonna hurt your feelings

You're going to prove him right. Most Cobras need a pulley to run with a C5 Z06.

 

Short of a pulley upgrade...

The C5Z is faster.

I know different people think different things are "bone stock" sp what does it mean in that race? That C5Z didnt sound like stock exhaust.
Was the beef in that thread that the pullied cobra wouldnt beat a stock C5Z? That is a crazy thought. Since a pulley isnt the only thing anyone is gonna have done. I certainly didnt think anything but what happened would have happened.

You really need a pulley to beat a C5Z.

Look at it from this perspective...your car has to trap 117mph (preferably higher because some stock Z's have hit 119mph with good drivers on good track days) or more in order to have a shot...

Again, unless the C5Z driver sucks.

I whooped up on a stock 03 cobra when my C5Z was stock. My buddy with a 03 C5Z with a full exhaust and CAI, no tune beat a 480rwhp 03 cobra by two cars from 50-120mph. That was with just drivers in the cars. The 03 cobra had the usual bolt ons except for headers. I raced that modded 03 cobra and raced from 45-90ish, he missed 4th. We were door to door. Tho I think that if he got fourth he would of pulled a little.
