This 4.6 mustang keeps pushing me...
Everytime I see this car in town they try and get me to race, or come to the track on weekend.
I talked to the guy and this is what we have.
99 4.6L Mustang
Cam (do not know size but sounds pretty choppy)
Intake
Muffler
5-speed
My car
98 Trans am
auto
slp lid
longtubes or ypipe
Should I go ahead and race him or do you think I should wait and wait till I install the ls6 intake?

I know, this dude seems shady like he's not being honest..
but he had no drag radials or anything, and he took off quick one time and from the way it sounded didnt seem like he could drive all that well.
I won't race on the street so the only thing would be at the track where I would have my advantage.
I recently sold my truck and I am daily driving the trans am right now..but it's like 4 miles a day at the most to work and back.
I plan on doing intake, cam, stall and spray over the winter months.

I say throw some drag radials on your car and meet up with him at the track. It's very rare to have someone call you out and offer to meet you at the track to settle, so that would be very fun.
While it is possible that he's got one of the well setup, well driven cam/bolt-on 2V's and will show up with slicks and skinnies, there is a much better chance that he's going to be running street tires and slow shifting his way to 13's.

Don't get me wrong, I love my z28, but my GT's have been much easier to shift fast than my camaro. I had pro 5.0, ram powergrip hd, steed quick release quadrant, etc etc. I chirped all the way into 4th with 275's. I'm scared to shift the z28 like that.

I have no personal experience shifting a 2V GT, but a car being easier to shift fast doesn't always equate to someone shifting it faster. I run into alot of people who don't know what a power shift is. So many bad drivers (myself included usually) is why it's always so impressive to see a stick car running awesome times.
