Cam is a hair on the small side for a 408 so it should have almost stock manners, and I'll throw out a guess of 480hp

come on guys it isnt hard for a stock cube h/c/i and exhaust ls1 to make that. If this 408 only makes that much then im going to throw it in the trash lol

I would guess 525rwhp sae...... cam may "seem" on the conservative side but this is a LS3 style top end and they don't need monster size cams to make really good power. This setup will breath and exhale really well, nice combo.

yeah I have read that the ls3/l92 heads dont really need a big cam to make big power.

A 500hp 346 and a 500 hp 408 are two completely different things.... The 408 will have more torque and lower powerband so it will be a LOT more friendly on the street and have a longer/wider powerband where the 346 will be more peaky..... I'd take the 408 over the 346 any day....and I did

Quoted for truth. That kind of power from a 346 will require a big, non street friendly cam and will need to be spun into the stratosphere to make it.
The 408 with the same power will be faster too because the power will come in at a lower more usable RPM.

But I still spin my 408 to 8,000 rpm

Ok so im updating this, it is now going in a 99 corvette frc m6 so wondering what your guesses will be through the 6 speed, again this is what I have:

Lq9 408
Callies Compstar Crank
Eagle H Beams
Wiseco -2cc Flat Top Pistons(compression 11.5-1)
(rotating assembly balanced)
Custom 4" Cold air pipe with 4" filter
Speed Density
Nick Williams 102mm Throttle Body
Tony Mamo Ported Fast 102mm Intake
TEA Stage 1 Ls3/L92 Heads(with the ls3 hollow stem intake valves)
Custom Cam-239/247 .624/.624 113+2 lsa
Morel Lifters 5206/Scorpion 1.7 rr
2" x 3" American Racing Long Tubes
3" Catless X-Pipe and 3" Borla Cat Back

Now through a T-56 and no 12 bolt, so tell me what you think.

530rwhp.

I think the cam is sized perfect. People WAY over cam everything these days...they just don't know better and want to put the hottest **** they can in there......

Good luck on the dyno!

ahh thanks for the guess, that's about what I'm looking for! A little less would be ok. And thanks I thought the size of the cam was just about right too. When I had it spec'd I was a little on the fence about it not being big enough too but then I did my research, and a lot of people are getting great results on 400+ cube motors with ls3 top ends with cams in the same ball park as this one.

If I'm not mistaken the advertised flow from TEA is like 353 on the intake and 264 on the exhaust at .600
