The ASA Lingenfelter motors have been known to make 390-400 rwhp with stock unported 853 heads. Most used stepped 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" headers, a tuned and sealed ECU and the ASA 525 lift cam. They also used an ATI damper, and single stage scavenge only dry sump system that may have garnered a bit more HP. They are very torquey and pull hard to 6500., made decent, reliable circle track and road race motors. They were stock compression, so around 10.1 to 1.

In race car fashion or practical in a street car? I don't see an issue making the power without all the pollution mechanisms to include mufflers and Cats.

I really don't see it at all taking a 1999-2002 F-body, putting that cam in and making 400RWHP especially with 853 heads.

Agreed^^. My car has zero emissions with full free flowing exhaust, not to mention a 3" electric cutout on tap after the 3" ory when i want. Im hopeful that with 10.8:1 compression and good flowing heads that i can make the 390/380+ mark. Especially with all the bolt on drag reductions I have, and through an m6. Im more excited about that high and flat tq curve this setup will make

Only thing that worries me about your setup is the springs. Normal ASA, LS6 all the way (that's what I've got). On the howards "asa" I would be a little worried. If the ramp rates are more aggressive it may end up taking a toll on those springs! Check them every 10k or so for issues.

I was giving a reference point. The ASA exhaust system, dry sump and Jerico tranny with polished gears etc would provide some more rear wheel HP.

380 RWHP is pretty freaking good!! I have had old school small blocks at made 330 to the wheels and that was awesome street power. Some people think they need more power than they really do.
I am looking for 500 rwhp, I must be a real junkie. 380 IS old school, 500 is the new 380, just saying.

We all know today's modern engines can make 500 Rear HP no problem. The question is, do you really need it or can even handle it. I should post the video of the Mustang that had more power than the driver could handle. (He wrecked)

There is more to the car than just HP. Today's F-body and Corvettes can handle the high horsepower because of the modern suspension and brakes too.

I would agree that 400hp engines are the norm these days with popular muscle cars, but I don't think we are 600hp quite yet for the average Joe.

I think for anyone who has actually driven in a car with mid 350-400hp to the wheels will say, it's plenty for a street car. Unless your car is strip only, there such a thing as too much HP.

I hope i can handle 400rwhp. Lol. I can handle a 150rwhp bike down a track, and my previous motor was a 490hp 383. I have a respect for power. It can be dangerous

It will be interesting to see where he comes out. I made 381/373 with a standard Hotcam with 853 heads.

Dyno tune session tomorrow . Sounds great. Pulls decent after warmup and a/f ratios look decent.

I must be getting old.
I'm guessing that I have around 380-390rw. 3150lbs & 425rw would be perfecto.

From my experience. The individuals who want "500hp" usually have never driven in a car with 400ish to the wheels. Its just a "cool" number to say to your friends.

500 crank hp can get squirrely...500 to the wheels and you better have a good set-up.

Just as i imagined it came out great. Ill post a dyno chart when i get to my computer. Made 417/397 on a stang dyno. I'm pretty sure it pulls just as hard if not harder than my 383 ls1 did. The torque curve on this thing is phenomenal!! This is the howards cam version of the asa, they claim around 9-15 hp more. And it asked for 10% LESS fuel at idle than stock. Idk what mpg i can get hwy yet. Cant keep my foot out of it!!
