Default How quick are STIs? modded

A guy around here has a STI that supposidly has a bigger turbo/ intercooler/ full exhaust, and a tune. I've never seen it but I've heard about it. They act like its a 10 second car but everyone around here thinks if they have a cold air intake they have 700hp. They're claiming 400whp but I'm doubting its really got an aftermarket turbo but say it does what kind of power is really gonna make? I was told its pushing 12lbs. Also what kind of power are we looking at if its just bolted/tuned? Thanks

A guy at my work bought one a while back and claims it has 400 whp yet he apparently got smoked by his friend naturally aspirated k20 civic which makes no sense considering I looked up a bolt on k20 N/A to run mid to high 13s in quarter miles according to a forum. Beautiful cars but some people hype them up to be more then they are it's the quiet guys driving them u gotta watch out for haha.

they CAN be fast... and if all that is true 400 is no problem seems low boost though once those things get around 500 they get supper expensive to mod but can make tons of power now its not the easiest thing to launch with out bogging or hoping really bad if they know how to launch awd your playing catch up

I can’t speak for ones with added power but what I found from driving my stock Sti is the low first gear gives it a nice hit when you make some boost. If you give somebody a ride and just use the first two gears they tend to think the car is pretty fast. Too bad it doesn’t keep pulling like that. I think it does feel better than a 13 second car in first gear but the clocks don’t lie.

12lbs it wont even make 350.
My buddy is on his 2nd. First was 350/300awhp/tq with upgraded ic/catback/upgraded stock turbo/tune. This was on 22-23lbs.

his new toy is 550awhp with a nice big garrett/FMIC/cpu/etc. This is on 28lbs and boost cut.

thought they are very capable, they rarely break into the 11s. and that's with upgraded turbo. stock turbo 12.8-13.8 is the norm
