Yep.. Especially up top. Hell really down low too, they make no torque and rely on steep gears.
A stock gear cobra is a turd.. Doesn't have the get up and go down low and can't pull back up top.
I would say it would take gears, exhaust, cai for it to be a good
run.

Cobras are slow up until 2003.... when ford got sick of losing and put on a supercharger.... lol

Back when I had my 98 Z28 I raced my brother's friend who had a 2001 Cobra with 4.10's, cat back, x-pipe, and CAI. Mine was all stock except for a Flowmaster cat back and a K&N filter. Both cars were manual as well. From around a 40 mph we were pretty even until the middle of 3rd where I started to pull. I was a good 2 cars ahead at around 120 mph.

My bestfriend has a '99 Cobra 5-speed and I have a '98 Z28 A4. We have raced 40 times (when I was bone stock) from digs and all kinds of rolls and he has never really came even remotely close to beating me. Race the guy and don't worry a bit.
