Default What will it run? Local track opening soon!

My local track (Lucas Oil Raceway) will be having it's first test n' tune on wednesday April 6th! I am planning on making my first (and my car's first) passes at the track that day. Give some guesses on what it will run! Also, any tips on launching, burnout, or anything else are greatly appreciated!

1999 Firebird Formula M6:
-stock 10 bolt w/ stock 3.42's
-stock 156k mile suspension
-new 295/35/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE760's on the rear (getting mounted tuesday) (On oem speedline c5 z06's if the weight of those is different or something, they seemed light to me)
-MGW shifter
-Tick clutch master cylinder
-~14k miles on stock replacement clutch
-SLP lid
-Speed Engineering 1 7/8" LT's
-TSP true duals
-no AIR or EGR and AC belt removed, but rest of AC equipment still there
-stock tune
-Car has 156k miles, but the vast majority were on the highway from the previous owner, and it has been well maintained as far as I can tell
-Car is full stock weight (Unless you count the minimal weight reduction from the fiberglass "smoothie q" hood from VFN), and I weigh 160ish

Anybody? I'd like to see a 12.99, but I'm not sure if that's realistic.

Yea I think you can run mid to high 12's. Your limiting factor will definitely be your tires. Don't be surprised or frustrated if you skate down the track

If you had some tires I'd say 12s if you could drive it.

A 12 would be great but don't feel bad if your running 13's. Maybe around 108 mph. With the street tires I'd say just a little burn out to clean them off. Launching with the 3.42's isn't too good. It's usually bog, burn the clutch, or burn the tires. Good luck man.

No tune? 13.2@106. Hold the rpm's at 1600-2000 and slip the clutch.

Lack of tune will probably keep you in the 13s

Well, track day got rained out. Thanks for the replies though, guys! I will definitely update when I get to make some passes. We should see some this wednesday though assuming the weather stays good and im off work again! To those that mentioned the lack of a tune, do you think a mail order tune would yield a significant difference? I plan on a cam by the end of the year, so I am defintiely not going to pay for a dyno tune right now, but I have no issue at all spending $150 for a mail order if it will make a decent difference. I also have an ls6 intake that I was waiting to put on until the cam. If i was gonna get a mail order I would just go ahead and throw that on first too. So I guess the actual question is: Would an LS6 intake and a mail order tune make a significant difference? (Should it nearly guarantee 12's?)

It would give you a much better shot that's for sure, figure you're looking at 15-20whp between the tune and ls6 intake.

I got 5 passes in last night. I definitely have some work to do. The worst pass of the night was a 15.929@103.01 with a 3.223 60'. I dumped the clutch at 4k and let it eat . The best pass of the night was 13.766@106.17 with a 2.340 60'. On that pass, It got very loose on the 1-2 shift and I had to let out a bit, and I hit the rev limiter at the top of 2nd. I think my tach may be slow or something bc it seemed like I was hitting the limiter a bit early a few times. I really need to figure out how to launch the car. I feel that if I can get the 60' down to 2.0-2.1 I'll be a lot closer to the low 13's-12.99 I wanted. Also, does my trap speed seem a little low, or could it just be from the problems I had during the run? I will definitely be back next wednesday, assuming that work and weather cooperate!

Don't feel too bad. Your car is not set up to run too good at the strip. Your gears, street tires, are a pretty big factor. Hell, I think the best 60' I mustered, same gear, same size tire, was 2.19 I think.

New personal best at the track tonight, but not by much. I ran 13.638@105.39 w/ a 2.252 60'. The DA was around 1200 I believe. I hit the limiter in third right as I was passing through the traps on this pass too. I still think that if I can get my 60' down, I'll have my 13.2 or better pass in some good air.
