Default HP / TQ Estimation Help for 98 Formula

Hey guys - first time poster long time lurker. Surprised to see a section of the forum just for this sorta thing but think that's great it's here. I've owned Firebirds for the past 20 years and just bought one last year. Only one guy owned it before me and he babied the heck out of it lucky for me. Lately I've been spending more time with it lately and wondering what it's putting down. Here's what it has:
  • 1998 Firebird Formula, so the LS1
  • SLP ram air added
  • Short headers
  • High-flow cats
  • Rear axle 3.23 ratio
  • It's also been chipped, but the guy couldn't remember what the HP / TQ gain was, said it changed up shift points
Mainly looking for a reasonable estimation on HP and TQ. Not even sure I want to actually dyno the thing because I don't like to push it hard and even dynos are off.

Thoughts???

335hp / 330 trq. Car is basically stock, it might even be more like 325hp/ 320 trq.

Thanks for the input! Just curious (and I'm not the expert on this which I guess is why I'm here lol), but if LS1's all produced 345 at the crank how come that wouldn't be the starting point? Then the other stuff would add a handful of hp / trq here and there. It's definitely mostly stock, which is probably how I'll keep things. Anyway, there's that whole 98 TA / 98 Vette comparison article that's been cited a lot... same output but different ratings (TA rated at lower RPMs which made lower output numbers, etc.). Kinda confusing...

You are dynoing through an Automatic transmission, shorty's and high flow cats aren't going to do a lot.

My 99' in my sig when stock with similar mods made 336hp 330trq through a T56 (Manual), and that was with under 20,000 miles on the engine. This cars respond better to camshafts (25-50hp+ ), good intakes (LS6, FAST, MSD 10hp-25hp), good heads ported 243's (LS6 Heads), AFR, Trick Flow, PRC, etc (25-50hp+) Longtube / mid length headers (10-30hp+ pending on mods)

That is pretty much where your meat is at if you are wanting to make power.... I personally have only seen 2001-2002 Camaros and Trans Am' making close to that 345hp number you speak on with serious tuning on basically stock cars, not a chip.

2001-02's have the LS6 intake from the factory which a lot of people suggest is worth 10hp+ hope this is some what of the answer you are looking for but I have never seen a 98-99 stock make 345 on a dyno, ever...

Since we're talking mileage - this thing only has 37k on it.

Very Nice, that's a great pick up on your part, these low mileage cars are getting harder and harder to find!

Are you thinking about taking the car to a tuner and see about getting the car optimized from a tuning stand point? Maybe he can go to a 91 octane tune and see how much he can get out of the car, I am sure you will pick up some power over that chip and hopefully that can get you closer to your number of 345hp...

Keep us posted if you end up doing that, would be great to see a baseline on the chip, and then a tune and see how much HP/TRQ he can get out of it for you.
