well back when my c5 had only the v-ram and straight pipes i would completely rape my buddies stock 02 Z28 (6speed also) from a low or high roll, we never went from a dig because i was on dr's and he was on street tires. i even let him get a half car lead on the frwy plus the hit and i would always reel him in pretty hard. so yeah

I ran a c5 auto when my car was auto/CAI/exhaust and this is the outcome. Mind you, this is in an lt1.

I have no clue what gears my car has in it, the sticker that was on the door is gone.

drive at 70mph in 3rd gear and you should be doing about 3200rpm if you have 3.23s, 3400 if you have 3.43s, 3700 if you have 3.73s, etc.

lemons12 the only cobras that quick are the 03-04. The 99-01 are slow and the 02 looks like the quick ones but says mustang on the rear bumper instead of cobra (stock). That is the only way to tell if they are worth running.

To the OP, the early C5 get a LS1 and latter get a LS6. They have the Weight and HP advantage on F-body stock. This argument is almost a mute point because of most of the cars you run into on the street who is really stock anymore.

ummm.. why are you telling me this????

i know which mustangs are which, and what they come with.. and what they look like......
you can also tell if they are worth running by a whining noise...

i wouldnt say a 99-01 cobra is necessarily slow (when talking stock for stock)
an exhaust and geared 99-01 should beat a bone stock ls1.. id say thats close enough to be a drivers race..
and before you ask, yes i have raced plenty of mustangs.. raced a 00 cobra.. my car ran very good for what it had.. a lid and loudmouth 3.23 gears(8.4@84).. he had exhaust.. from 40ish to about 90ish i pulled about 1-2 cars.. yes it was from a roll.. good for him, bad for me.. but they arent THAT far away from an ls1..

That is where I got the 99-02 from. They are slow compared to the 03-04 cobras.
^1-2 cars to me is pulling pretty hard so how are they nothing to laugh at. Stock for stock a ls1 f-body will pull those year cobras.

I like to pull them too .

ok... compared to an 03-04 they are **** slow... it close enough to me that if the mustang driver could drive and ls1 driver couldnt... the mustang would win.... thats why i say nothing to laugh at... but it SHOULD be an easy win...

i drag em all!

And I should have prefaced that, I never lost from a roll....

And the N/A Cobra's are all over the board as far as RWHP, it's much easier to drive an LS1 to its best than the Cobra.

You also have to remember the N/A Cobra's are much lighter than the Terminators.

I kid you not, an off duty officer on his way to a fall season mountain cruise (was a big event in north Georgia 2 years ago) beat the snot out of me several times in a stock Zo6. (I checked his car later in the afternoon)

And since then I've driven maybe 500 C5's? (not a typo.... 5 HUNDRED different '97+ Corvettes)

A stock C5 will stomp even a bolt-on f-body... sorry. (with a strong F body and a weak C5 it's a driver's race)
Josh here is talking about a Z06, not an LS1 C5. No need for calling names or talking **** guys.

LS1 vettes in stock form are a good race for a mild boltons LS1 fbody, from a dig anyways. High speeds the vette will walk due to weight and aeros.

Z06s are high 11/low 12 car, they really work well without that much added hp.

Sounds like you only play with stock cars

I've never been beat by a mustang that isn't an 03-04 cobra. One was running 19lbs with meth injection and beat me by about .5 sec, and another with boltons was running the sames times that I am in my LS1 (raced him in my LT1)

Does that mean my car is faster than all mustangs? No... I've just never ran in to one that has mods worth mentioning.

Regardless, LS1s respond much more to mods than any mustang does except for the 03-04 snakes. Mod for mod, LS1 will win any time against an NA pony/snake... from what I've seen anyways.

stock ls1 vettes from what i have ALWAYS seen and heard get beat by mild bolton fbodys.. lid, exhaust, and intake trans am or ws6 will walk a stock c5 without a problem... all the way to 165...

FYI - no such thing...unless we were in Australia. (no '02 cobra).

The only 00 cobra was the Cobra R. (Just FYI).

Gotta love cam timing in mod motors.

You sure about that? Last I checked....Machs keep the same gap in HP as LS's do with the same mods. (~30 rwhp +/-)
