98' Camaro Z28/1LE 6speed in DE
First, a little history... I purchased the car in October of last year after selling my 96' Corvette. My son was to be born in November, and a 2 seater just wasn't going to cut it anymore. So i began the search for a car that was still fast, but could seat 4. This low mile, NBM, modded, 6speed Z28 fit the bill. The car had just under 38k miles on it at the time i took ownership. The previous owner bought the car after finishing college, however, soon after graduating he joined the military and was deployed to Iraq. Because of this, he didnt have much time to drive the car, hence the low miles. In between tours he would perform modifications to the car. These include:
- SLP lid with K&N filter
- LS6 intake manifold
- ported 5.3 heads
- comp cams 224/228 cam with matching valvesprings
- Virginia speed tune
- new timing chain and oil pump
- underdrive crank pulley
- pacesetter 1&3/4" long tube headers
- custom catted Ypipe
- unknown catback with dual outlet tips
- superior axles
- thunder racing diff cover
- subframe connectors
- aftermarket panhard rod and LCAs
- lowering springs
- edelbrock strut tie bar
- pioneer CD head unit and amplifier
- mtx component speakers at all 4 corners
- mtx subwoofer in custom enclosure
There may be a few more minor things, but off the top of my head that's all I can remember. The previous owner was kinda vague on some of the mods, for instance he didn't know who ported the heads and so had no flow data on them. He also didn't know the lift specs on the cam. Regardless, he claimed the car put down 410rwhp and 390rwtq on Virginia speeds dyno while it was being tuned. I ran the car at Cecil and got a 12.5 at 116mph on a soft launch so the weakish factory 10 bolt rear could live another day. With a better rear and stronger clutch (the one in the car is factory), the car would easily 11 sec capable.
The car currently has a little over 43k miles and is in great shape. It is a genuine 1LE car, and thus doesnt have many of the creature comfort options most of these cars do. It doesnt have power windows, locks, or mirrors. It also doesnt have cruise control, fog lights, or even a trunk pop button. Its a hardtop, no Ttops. Thankfully, it does have A/C. However, even though it does give up a few convienience items, these all help to shave weight, making this car a little quicker than your run of the mill Z28 or SS.
I used the car as a daily driver for the last 8 months and only put around 6000 miles on it. However, after having my son for a few months I've come to the conclusion that a 2 door sports car just doesn't suit my changed lifestyle, thus its up for sale. Hopefully it will go to someone to whom its more practical. Priced firm at $9000, it should be a quick sale. Thanks for looking.

haha I forgot that was there when I bought it! That thing was removed soon after I brought the car home (the pictures are from when I first got it). Don't know why the previous owner had that thing on there

bump
car hasnt been my daily driver for 3 months now, as i bought a Buick Regal GS for that duty in June. the car now has 44,xxx miles
over the next few weeks ill be installing a set of comp roller rocker trunions, TSP hardened pushrods, MSD plug wires, and a fresh set of plugs. new track times and possibly dyno numbers will follow if it hasnt sold by then
trades considered, but has to be non-daily driver in nature, and i have to get at least $4000 out of the deal as well
