Default Nice gain from Nittos

Ran my car at the track today with Nitto drag radials for the first time. I didn't really gain a lot in the 60' time, best of 2.03 (was 2.11 with street tires). But I took more than a tenth off my best ET, from 13.89 to 13.76, so it obviously made a difference beyond the 60'. It never would have hooked at all in 50-60 degree air with the street tires so I think that is where the improvement comes from. This is an LT1 car, auto w/3.23s, cold air intake and Magnaflow muffler, raceweight 3,450 plus me 150 = 3,600 lbs. Pretty decent time for so few mods I think. Traps between 99-100 mph.

Here is my last timeslip of the day. My car on the right obviously. Who wants to bet this guy was just being a douche? (note the reaction time) It was a fox body, don't know the setup.

3 sec RT??? DAMN!
i switched to the Nitto 555R drag radials myself. they hook nicer than i thought. i was using the BF goodrich radials, but they didnt last at all.
anyways, nice time. not bad at all

Whatever you lose in 60ft expect to lose that + few more hundredths
in your 1/4 mile time.

Great runs! I didn't realize that you gained that much in the 60'. .08 improvement doesn't seem like much, but from my experience you gain in the 1/4 about 1.5 times whatever you gain in the 60'. That makes a .08 gain equal to a 1.2 gain in the 1/4. 13.89 minus .12 equals 13.77. Looks right on to me!

Thanks Aaron Sorry to hear about the rear, that sucks. I'm a little curious if something might be up with mine, I noticed one rear fender was nice and clean and the other had a few chunks of rubber. Maybe it just spun up some rubber from someone else's burnout, I didn't do any long burnouts. I'll hafta go paint some stripes on the road to double check.

I just feel bad, I sold like every perf. part I had for LT1's I think I got a 160 deg thermo left and some knock sensors lol.

In my auto car on 17" nittos I cut a 1.6 60". They are a decent compromise for a street tire.
