Default 83 monte build up thread

Last night, we put the body on the chassis for a test fit. We needed to see if we need to go with full or mini tubs. mini tubs it is. The tires fit perfect.

Is the rear narrowed? I just brought home an 87 Regal, I'm trying to figure out what size rims and what backspace I can get away with. Thanks

The frame is narrowed 3 1/2" on each side, Ford 9" rear narrowed 2 1/2" on each side....but with lower control arm brackets brought in 3 1/2" from stock position.

just read your build. you have a lotof great ideas. will prob apply them to my own when i cross that path. i notched my frame and i was able to fit a 295 65 15 tire perfect under my el camino. if i had the time to do it over again i would go the route you did

We put the body on the frame and sat the roll cage in for a test fit, and to finish the anti-roll bar. Everything fits and works as planned.

The frame is in paint now. I chose Graphite Gray from the '09 Dodge Sprinter van. I figured this color would look nice against a bright red.

Back from sand-blasting

Epoxy Primer

Filling welds and other improfections

(other motor mount holes are welded in..not just filled with body filler)

After filling, we did another few coats of epoxy, then K36 Primer

Then on top of that after wet sanding, we did a seal coat..epoxy, catalyst, and reducer.
Then the final color. The pictures look lighter than it really is.
