Yeah you went farther than me. I got off the second turn off and you got off the third so you can say you went farther than me.

I looked thru my 09 book...I didn't see any changes with respect to rollbars...

required at 11.49 and good to 10.00 (as long as the floor and firewall are intact)

the only change in roll bar rule is that you are getting very close to being Pizza Boy and that you know you need but won't get it.

11.49 you need a bar. Either get or forever be associated with that pizza boy

Wrong. NHRA rules 11.49 needs a rollbar, and 9.99 needs a cage. I dunno where you got 11.99 and 10.99 from, because these cars are not convertables, and are not treated like one.

I have an 09 rulebook right in front of me, just looked it up.

these might help
4.5 ROLL BAR

Roll bar mandatory in all cars running 11.00 (*7.00) to 11.99 (*7.49) and in convertibles running 11.00 (*7.00) to 13.99 (*8.59), and in dune-buggy type vehicles running 12.00 (*7.50) seconds and slower. Permitted in all cars. See General Regulations 4.10, 10.6.

4.6 ROLL CAGE

Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker, or any car exceeding 135 mph (217.2 km/h). Cars running between 7.50 (*4.50) and 9.99 (*6.39) must have chassis inspected every three-years by the ASN and have a serialised sticker affixed to cage before participation. This is from the NHRA FAQ updated 12/19/08 and can be viewed here: http://www.nhra.com/contacts/tech_faq.html

A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.49 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.49. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:

If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:

NP.

I wish the rumor of an 11.0 bar rule was true. Too many cars can run 12s off the showroom floor.....and faster with a simple tune/mods.

It killed me to post that.

I remember I debated when I needed the bar at 12.00 and went ahead and did it and then they dropped it to 11.50 the same winter. I was pissed. In the end though, that is probably why it runs low 10's now. (shhhhh, don't tell Melissa)
