If I get the chance to go I'll just bring whatever is up to par at the time. Most likely it'll wind up being the wrx lol.
Or, I may actually have the orange bird together with an LT1/T56 combo by then...

I think some of you should be contacting the organizers about the rules, rather than posting about it here. From what I can tell, they're just using another clubs rule book. They may be happy enough using the Texas Mile rules instead. Maybe they could make a Street class for unmodified cars that wouldn't require a cage. Either way, you're not going to get anywhere by making suggestions here.

Safety requirements let events like this happen. They lower insurance and prevent people showing up with warmed over **** boxes and causing disasters.

It always amazes me when people bitch about safety, makes me wonder if they put any value on their own life.

It sounds like fun, but when I think of what it would cost to drive up there, get a hotel, register, and put safety gear in my car it's not really that appealing anymore. Like someone said, a huge ticket is cheaper LOL
Not knocking their safety rules, just giving my $.02.

we can make our own event going up there and back. maine is pretty chill, I blasted through the whole state once on 95> 395> 295 to 93, didnt slow down till I hit the expansion joints outside of boston and the only problem I had was almost running out of gas on 1 stretch in maine since it was like 2am. crossed the CA border a lil after midnight and I was back home on the cape by 7am.

If I had a 1200RWHP street car, you can bet your *** it wouldn't be caged.

Cage does NOTHING on a street, unless your rolliing around with your harness on and a helmet. Otherwise you are likely worse off, and will end up with head trauma in the case of any incidents.

I read that entire 9 page thread on their forum and I'm still confused about rules, etc. Most of it is still up in the air.

Which car are you bringing?

Just to clarify, four point and six point refers to harnesses, right?

I would hope to bring my bike, and whatever car I have at that time. Have to see how this all pans out, and how they figure out how the classes will breakdown.

I would probably get bored of staring at the speedo on my bike at 186 for more than a half mile though LOL. Time for a turbo kit

This has really sparked my interest. Any links to the actual ECTA rules? What organization is actually putting the event on?

Theres some info here. http://www.freiburgersjunkyard.com/f...?topic=8582.15 Turned me off...

Anything without a cage is limited to 135. 150 you need a 4 point, 175 you need a 6 point.

Anything over 135 you need a suit, and 150+ a fire suppression system.

I'll stick to the street.

I don't think the safety rules are anything to crazy considering the speeds involved.

Carpool?

What's going to happen if you go over your limit? I'd like to just go there and watch all day and make a run at the end, who cares if I get kicked out? Those rules prohibit 99% of enthusiasts from doing this.

And yes, I will be emailing the organizers.

I have a feeling that the tech inspectors would be smart enough to know what your car could run and would turn you away if you didn't have everything you needed. It kind of sucks because these rules will eliminate basically all street cars.

couldnt agree more, look at the speeds and see what you would need at those speeds if your doing it in the 1/4 mile. youll see they arent much different. though i agree that most street cars can hit 135, and most fbodies have no problem at 150 +.
the only thing holding me back is the fire suppression system, i can do a fire extinguisher but a full halon system aint happening. i wonder if a 6 point bolt in cage would be okay? thats what im planning on using.

How official is this event? Does it even exist currently, or will it be new this year?

Does anyone know if they have an official website with said rules and requirements???
