Default My slicks of doom

My slicks of DOOM as people have called them may have wasted my tru trac in my MOSER 9 inch at the rental friday, the rear was acting like a spool when driving around in the pits, i just figured it was due to being on the slicks, raced with no problems, went to go home on the drag radials and it was still shuddering when turning, but when straight no problems or resistance.

hoping a fluid change will cure itm but not really optimistic

Nice pics Cheffer....That sux about the tru track. I remeber how it was with the locker tho. I would just replace the true track with another before going back to the locker. We don't go to the track enough to justify another locker...

It's whats called a worm gear setup.

thechef-Hope a fluid change helps ya, I've got a good bit of 6K rpm launches on my tru-trac with no issues so far, but I've heard the stories both good and very very bad.

that sucks, when I do my rear I'm just going for the spool instead of posi unit so I dont end up breaking the posi unit. Thats looks like a pretty good launch, what rpm were you launching at?

I was in Boston at the game all day but let me say this. That is exactly wht happend to my tru trac while USING YOUR SLICKS!!!

Sean changing that Tru Trac for another will do nothing but cost him 650$ and it will break again. Spool it or go back to a Eaton HD unit. JL's lived for a LONG time and he sold it.

Nice that you got some really great pic's before the rear started getting temperamental.

Great pic's. Looks like you almost got the wheels up. What did it end up running?

I think JL said 11's N/A. But I am sure Chef will chime in.

What I will say about the Spool / Posi debate is....

Car gets a 6 Point Weld in Cage = Spool

Car does not get a Weld in Cage = Posi

Chef has been plagued with nitrous issues, damn setup works one day and not the next. Somewhere tehre's a loose wire or something.

Car went 11.90 n/a with the nitrous tune in it, knowing where the timing and whatnot is that's probably 40 hp down from where it would be if the timing and whatnot wasn't pulled back. 99K on the stock shortblock there's no need to go getting aggressive with it at this point.

Once we get the wiring issue solved, car's going strait to a 11.0x-10 second pass I'm sure of it.

I'm voting spool if the fluid change doesn't solve it. I've seen that tru-junk break too many times to want to even take the chance with another one IMO. Spool isn't a big deal, just have to get used to startign out strait then turning the wheel and it will be fine.

Either that, or a regular eaton posi that we can at least rebuild!

I'd definitely go Eaton if my car made that kind of power. And I think Chef said he hates lockers so that's out. It is pretty funny that these same tires have killed two Tru Tracs in two different cars!

There is NO way a locker is going back in my car, that was the worst mod i ever did, i HATED it

Yes the car ran a 11.90 @ 112 or 113mph i dont remember best pass for the day with alot of timing pulled for the NOS which for some reason didn't work im sure its something stupid like a loose connection or something But if there ever was a day i wanted my own tuning software it was at the track i could have loaded the motor tune back in and ran faster NA...oh well

there will be NO roll bar going in this car at least not in the near future, and a POSI will go back in if a fluid change doesnt fix the current problem, i dont go to the track enough for a spool, but after that rental i do have a real bug to strat running my 100k mile car alot just got to fine the money to do it.

All in all i was able to drive the car home and that is always a good thing, got to hang with friends and any day of racing is better than a day of working

I think with all of these problems you have with those wheels/tires, you should just sell them to me cheap to rid yourself of the headaches!

Nice job, Friday. That car was squatting like crazy. I would love to see what my car with do with that shock/wheel/tire setup. Down the road it will definitely happen.

Sounds like Eaton or Spool, pick your poison.

lots of sponsors claim those tru-tracs take up to 600hp all day long, what gives, been a few eastern guys mangling them up.
