I have mine sitting on the car, and I must say it does fit pretty good. Little trimming in the center to get it to match the windshield right, corner pieces need the same, other then that it's very good.

I do, want to cut the corner "ears" off, and make a permanent piece to sit there, just because I already scratched the indent's in the quarters once setting the hood.

Since I've been snowed in due to the blizzard of 2010...I decided to start working on making the front end removable as one piece. Started with a VFN removable front end kit.

here it is mocked up on the ground:

Note the clecos...they are holding the front attachment plates. Here is a picture from the back side. The bar that goes across the bumper is what holds the front in place...locking it in place both up/down and side to side. The small bar in the back is just for mockup...keeps the back of the fenders at the proper distance.

These are the plates that the front bar interlock with

Now its time to cut a sh%t ton of metal out of the front

worst thing i ever did was a dzus hood. never again. i wish i didnt rip out all my stuff for stock style hood.
esp in case of fire. the car would just burn cuz u never get the hood off fast and a 5 pound fire system isnt going to put out every type of fire. i also had a quick issue right befor a run, i had to get under the hood to make the fix, and it takes atleast 30-45 seconds to remove the hood and atleast the same to get it back on, and you guessed it. i missed the pass and i was out.

they look good and are light but i would pass on it in the future.

just a note, be sure all your line guys up with you have a tool or screw driver with them.

Shoot me a PM with how you plan on mounting it... I've been looking for a set of camaro style rails for a while and have had no luck. If you're going to make something like that, I'd be willing to buy a 2nd set if you're willing to make them...
you should buy one from Joe and from VFN put them side by side see why Joes is more money, VFN produces scrap and Joe produces artwork i know cause i work for him

ya I guess your right. I'd rather have finest VFN quality than do a bit of trimming on a hood for a car that the factory has a hood gap range of over 1" from car to car
and I'm the dumbass
gotta love how VFN is doing their part in helping the environment by recycling toilet paper rolls for bracing under each of their hoods

Sorry Fireball for high-jacking your thread but I gotta defend Joe. He is my buddy and the most talented person I've ever met.
By the way other than the hood your car is amazing
Thanks

there was no need to pull this thread from the coffers and stir the pot here...

I'm quite happy with my vfn hood...there was alot less work in fitting the hood than there was making the overbeek wing work...

Just because he is your buddy doesnt mean he does good work.
Its a shitty hood and I would never tell anyone to buy it.
For the money it costs and amount of time I had to wait for it I would have thought it would have fit a whole lot better.

To bad nobody on this site has a pro mod.
Is that why the hood was 4" bigger than it needed to be all the way around?

Take a look at the pics Fireball posted, see how the hood fits right out of the box?
The POS Joe o. Had to have ALOT cut off of 3 sides.... Like I said over priced junk. IMO

you see it actually quite simple to fit hood to car
1)cente hood to car
2)go from underside with scribe or ice pick and mark fender edge to hood
3) remove hood from car and use 0.045 cut off wheel on 4 1/2" angle grinder
4) trim hood on the line so as to not make the line disappear.
5)check fitment to car
6)use 40grit sandpaper wrapped around wooden paint stir stick to sand edges into place
7)stand back and admire your perfect fitting light weight hood

sorry ATV racr if i pissed you off i dont normally like starting anything but you were pretty harsh on my mentor so i acted out of line
P.S. most people dont know to use cut off wheel to trim hood to fit but is a must. if we made the hood exactly stock it would fit maybe 1 out of 100 cars since the tolerance is so big from factory

Really...
1. OK
2. It has a motor and fender wells how do you climb inside the engine bay with an engine and all the stuff in it?
3. Yep.
4. What line? the one your magic arms scribed? What about it being 4" to long on the windshield? how do you mark that?
5. Oh you have to check it.... didnt know that. Really thats the only way to fit the stupid thing, cut a little and check it, cut a little more and check.
Do that 100 times and it fits (or take a chance and cut alot in hopes you didnt cut to much and then your fucked)
6. Good idea.
7. LOL .... or buy one that fits out of the box.

So your telling me there are 100 different sizes of stock hoods?
